I'd like to come play with you guys sometime this summer. I'll have to scope out airfare deals.

Have any of you played with that old man at the Shell who wears short red shorts and no shirt, and constantly asks you to full court press? He kept telling everyone that that's how they do it in NY, and we were all nobodies from the midwest that don't understand how to hustle.

I was trying to convince him that I (at the time) lived in NY and that he was severely misinformed.

If we are going to play outside, I think we should try and get some fullcourt going. I'm trying to think of some good fullcourts in the Madison area.....

Adam, I have played with that guy, he is always there. I've played at the Shell for years actually, usually good games there if you play morning or noon, but now work makes it tough, and the games after 5 PM are pretty poor quality.

i've never been to the shell, i don't think there's anyway i can get in.

there's a pretty decent full court that i think has 3 point lines off junction rd. in by a bunch of houses, but that's not close to anyone.

i'll try to come up with some more.

Yeah, I'm kind of limited to campus. I've been playing a lot lately at the SERF through intramurals and pickup games lately. I won't be getting winded so early on anymore.

Does that mean that you'll be twice as good as Luke? I'll play sometime.

That is hilarious. I have played with that guy before, and he is even weirer than you make him sound. Another funny thing about that guy, is sooner or later people stop passing him the ball (because he is terrible) and he starts yelling really loud that he is a victom of "age-ism" and he demands to any nearby staff members that they throw whoever is on his team out of the building. I have seen him pull that more than once.

I always thought that guy was a burned out hippie (something Madison is known for) and I just ran across his path on a day when he was high or something. But apparently that is how that guy rolls everyday.

Hilarious... I have played many places, and seen a lot, but not much beats playing with that guy at the Shell with a few locals and a half dozen Asian engineering students and having that 60 year old guy DEMAND that his team runs the full court press.

I'm not watching that, I'm worried your skills will intimidate me and damage my ego.

Next time you see him, tell him nobody anywhere plays full court press. He will tell you that they do in NYC, all game long.

I kept asking him which court he plays at in NYC where that occurs, but apparently it is confidential. I can assure you that it isn't The Cage, Riverside Park, or Columbia University. Maybe somewhere in Long Island? I'll have to go to the Knicks board someday and see if any of them are familiar with the pickup games where every last guy full court presses all day long. I'm sure wherever that court is, they talk about their long lost colleague who emigrated to the Shell.

I generally think you're lucky to get guys playing half serious half court one on one defence in a pick up game, let alone a full court press all day.
