Decent draft day trade?

This is provided we do not win the lottery and end up in the 7-10 range

Bucks and Blazers

Milwaukee
out
2008 1st round pick
dan gadzuric
bobby simmons

in
travis outlaw
joel pryzbila
darius miles

Portland
out
travis outlaw
darius miles
joel pryzbilla

in
dan gadzuric
bobby simmons
1st round pick

Basically this is a 1st round pick swapped for travis outlaw. the other four contracts are the same amount of years and essentially the same, just a change of scenery. I like pryz backing up drew and miles may end up retiring soon enough and the bucks get out from that contract.
If we get a better pick in the lottery the obviously I like that route better, but this may not be a bad way to go.

No. Miles and Simmons are redundant. We don't shed Gadz's contract, we just turn him into a serviceable player that didn't like his first go round in Milwaukee. I'm not dealing the seventh pick for Outlaw to get production out of a backup center.

Sure, if we got their lottery pick I'd consider it.

Problem is, at that point, Portland wouldn't.

Not a good trade for Milwaukee Simmons for Miles is just like trading crap for crap for both teams. Losing Gadz for Priz sounds nice at 1st but we are also giving a decent pick for that and Outlaw which I am not sold on him just yet.

Providing the Heat get the number 1 or 2 pick....

Mo Williams + Bobby Simmons + our lottery pick to Miami....

Lottery pick + Ricky Davis to Milwaukee.....

This way we can get Darrick Rose as the starting point guard, and Ramon Sessions can be backup point guard. It is a win win situation for both teams, especially Miami since they have been pursuing Mo Williams for a while, and they want to get rid of Ricky Davis.

Miami is not trading their pick.

I agree that Miami isn't trading the #1 or #2, but any lower and they certainly might. Riley doesn't want to wait for development of a player who isn't "can't miss."

Best case scenario: We get #1, and Miami gets #4. In that situation, I think we could absolutely move something like Redd or Mo/Villanueva/#37/Mason for the pick and Blount/Banks.

Interesting idea. I agree that Rose is now that type of player where a team like the Heat won't give up the chance to get him. But if they're stuck looking at Brooke Lopez and Jerryd Bayless, our offer probably looks a lot better.

The question then is, do we have a guy we like enough that we're trading up to get him? Obviously Mo and CV are not guys we're in love with, but hopefully someone outside the top two is actually of interest (like Horford was last year). The only guy who really appeals to me that I'm assuming we'd definitely need to trade up for is Mayo. But that could change as well :)

Thats like my dream right there. I think if we get one, we should draft Rose, and if Miami slipped to 3 or 4, we pull off the trade like you said but try to get Haslem out of them and use their pick to draft Mayo.

Getting all that to happen is unlikely but its nice to dream.

Rose + Mayo would be insane. That would be one of the most athletic backcourts in the NBA. Quite a change from one guy who can't dunk, and another who can but misses a month of games each time.

Mo>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ricky D

And Ricky is a bigger cancer than Mo.

I think Ricky Davis is an expiring contract however....

That said, if the heat are in position to Draft Rose or Beasley, then they draft rose or Beasley. They wouldn't be interested in taking Mo to exchange the pick, because at 7, they aren't going to get anything great.
