Does the Journal Sentinal Sign FAs? Sam Smith Available.

Post#1 » by old skool » Mon Apr 7, 2008 10:09 pm

Sam Smith has been bought out by the Chicago Tribune. Smith is now looking for another gig.

I realize that many here deride his view of the NBA, but as a regular reader, I find him to be informed as a reporter and creative as a columnist. I really will miss his broad view of the NBA and hope that he finds another outlet that I can follow.

Not living in Milwaukee, I don't know what the local NBA reporting is, but from the level of complaints on this forum, it sounds like it is mostly wire reports. If that is the case, Smith would be a huge upgrade.

He's like one of us. I'd like to see him on the JS Staff.

Well if nothing else he could get our hopes up with rumors that never actually will happen. But in all seriousness I think the J.S. is cutting staff not adding to them.

I'd kill for Sam Smith to get a freelance job with the MJS.....

I think the guy is great....He is not as sharp as he used to be, but he has good perspective on things. I'll miss his writing in the Trib.

uh wouldn't he go for a big job..like ESPN or SI, or like LA Times, or some where in NY.

Why would he come here...why would anyone want to work for that crappy newspaper.
