Bucks talk on NBA coast to coast

Post#1 » by CBUCK06 » Wed Apr 9, 2008 1:33 am

Rick and Mark both touched on our GM and coaching situation. Looks like we will have new folks in both positions. The new GM will have the choice to bring in a new coach. King and Hammond are names linked to the GM position. Herb Kohl has mentioned bringing Larry Brown in to coach the team, but Kohl would want a GM that's worked with Brown to be in place if Larry Brown is the coach....

Interesting...

I really have no idea what would happen if Brown took over as coach, but I don't see him on board with rebuilding, which is what I want. This core is not going to win much of anything and I doubt Billy King is capable of structuring a core that can. I guess I'm entirely behind Hammond from now on.

I agree that our current core has many defensive flaws, but I don't think it's fair to say that they aren't capable of winning games. Since they've come in Milwaukee, they've gotten unproven coaches who aren't even in the league anymore.

Our core as we know it could drastically change with a hall of fame coach. Think about it.....a hall of fame coach in Milwaukee. I know some changes are needed, but I think a guy like Larry Brown could drastically change the way our guys play (for the better).

I like that Hammond is still apparently in the running.

My first thouht when I heard about Billy King being in the running was whether it was related to Larry Brown. This certainly is evidence that it is.

Look on the bright side people----how much worse would a Billy King hire be if it wasn't done as an incentive to get a top notch coach (at least compared to who we've had lately)?

Was Hammond in Detroit when Larry Brown was coach there?

I have a feeling he was....interesting....

I agree with one of the above posts regarding the difference a hall of fame coach.

Everyone is freaking out about winning now?

What is wrong with that?

Perhaps that means Yi will be in a reserve role (like he should be) and we will work on acquiring pieces to help us win now (cause Yi isn't going anywhere)

That would be what we call "Direction"

Something the Bucks have lacked for over 5 years

In a weak eastern conference, theres no reason that with some tweaking and a readjusted offense geared towards the second best center in the east (Bogut) that we can at least shoot for second round of the playoffs within a year or two.

I'm ready to thrown down and win now F rebuilding

Alot of people forget that Billy King actually had a hand in that... I wouldn't be all that disappointed with a King/Brown combo.

...they aren't exactly in "good" shape either...they're in "mediocre" shape...the same damn thing we've been trying to get rid of around here since '01

are they a championship team because of their little second half run? any bunch of scrubs can overachieve for small amounts of time (03-04 bucks), it's the endurance of years that counts

Trade away young players (YI), draft picks (our first), Villanueva

Acquire veterans to put next to Mo/Redd/Bogut. Say what you want about a Mo/Redd backcourt, but those two guys and Bogut were the three producers for our team this year.

Keep guys who produced and get rid of those who didn't

Bring on the King/Brown combo. The only credibility we would have. Get some vets and we will win!

I'm sorry but we're just not going to win with that core. Mo and Redd are just too apathetic and/or selfish in general and too pathetic defensively as a back court duo.

Mo and Redd have to be traded. Redd is a good Robin he is not batman.
