If Billy King Gets Hired As Bucks GM...

I will take photographs of myself burning every Bucks t-shirt, jersey, ticket stub, and sweatshirt that I own. I will post the pictures here, as well as send them to Herb Kohl's office.

I would send the charred remains too, but that might be considered a hate crime or a level orange home security threat (seeing that Herb in a Senator) and I don't want to end up in Guatanamo Bay Military Prison.


Anyone else willing to make a promise to sever all ties with the Bucks, if the unthinkable were to happen?

like my post in the last thread I dont get all the hatred towards Billy King sure he has made some bad moves but he doesn't deserve all this bashing. I hope its not the reason I think it is.

If you don't instantly know why Billy King would be a crippling hire for this franchise, I don't really know where to start.

The main reason, is that the Bucks need to hire someone who is established, experienced, and respected throughout the league. King is considered one of the worst GM's in league history, and a quick review of his resume would surely refresh you on how he earned that reputation. A King hire would announce to the rest of the league that Kohl and his cronies are still in charge, and its business as usual at the Cousins Center... with undeserving bench players getting huge deals, and nothing but a cosmetic change or two to the roster each offseason with no real direction or plan.

Seriously, do I even need to continue with why hiring King would be bad?

The Sixers (under King) got to the finals one year with masterful coaching and an MVP season from an iconic player (Iverson). But everything after that perfect storm of circumstances showed that King was in way over his head (huge extensions to role players, one of the worst superstar trades in history, etc).

I'm not going to even go on. If you don't think that King would be a terrible hire, there is nothing I can do for you. And by the way, there are other guys out there that would be just as bad (recycling other guys who have proven to be mediocre or worse like SUnd). I only make the distinction for King because he was so SPECTACULARLY horrible for so long. I mean... you realize he is in the Isaiah Thomas, Scott Leyden, Jim Paxson, and postMJ Jerry Krause tier of GMs, don't you?


And why should this thread get deleted? We know Kohl sends his employees here to read our opinions, thus isn't there value in drawing a line in what we will and won't accept?

Yes Billy King in his tenture in philly proved he could never build around a.i. I'd say his best trade was the trade that sent Iverson to Denver.

He sort of **** that up though, we should of gotten Al Thorton with our needs don't get me wrong Young is looking good, but don't ya think Thorton would of been the better fit.

He also traded those other draft picks failing to move up for Yi just to move down in the 1st round with 4 draft picks...it was a pathetic attempt and every 76ers draft with B.K its a dissapointment except (Iggy of course 9th) Stole that one from the raptors should of gotten at him at 8.

He then re-signs Kenny Thomas to the worse contract ever after having a semi- break out year,Eric Snow,Aaron Mckie after the finals.

Trading Mutumbo for Van Horn, and then useless Glenn Robinson. Then Trading for knee busted C-Webb who shown in Philly he can't post up anymore, sure it looked a steal at 1st but C-Webb made us a worser ballclub. It was really only good to get rid of Thomas contract, good thing Webber's coming off this season.

I like our new gm Stefanski and how he traded Korver for cap space, and gave the younger players more minutes for them to develop. Ever since then we been on a tear, and we can always replace a shooter like Korver, and Philly needs a Starting Power Forward.

As for King, I would laugh my ass off if Bucks Hired him. That would be like a kick to fans faces in Milwakee and it would hurt more year after year.

I think I could probably get Billy to give me a $15 million contract as a 12th man, so I'd be pretty excited. I've got a nice jump shot.

I don't want him either but honestly, I've already resigned myself to the fact that neither of the hires needed will go well. Why should they ruin their incompetence streak!

It almost tells you all you need to know about Herb Kohl that Billy King would even get an interview or be listed by the organization as a candidate. It would almost be impossible to spend money more foolishly than King did in Philly, and other than the time when Kiki V maxed out Kenyon Martin (after numerous leg and ankle injuries) I can't think of a worse move than when King traded for a clearly washed up Webber. And that doesn't even take in to account the obvious alpha dog / chemistry issues that EVERYONE (except King) knew were bound to happen between Iverson and Webber. Now I am getting myself worked up even more.

This is all you need to know to understand Kohl... here is a guy (King) who has left a legacy of failure in Philly and whose name is synonymous with failure throughout the league... but because a cronie probably whispered that King is bright and up and coming, Kohl is considering hiring him.

That is all you need to know about Kohl, and a perfect representation of why we have been a bottom tier franchise for Kohl's entire tenure as owner.

King is a horrible GM. It really can't be argued any other way. The money he gave Kenny Thomas alone should eliminate him from any GM candidate discussion. The Iverson trade was absolutely horrendous as well.

Does the NBA have any sort of hiring practice guidelines where teams have to look at minority candidates for coaches and Gm's? I know the NFL and MLB have it. I assume the NBA doesn't. Just curious, as King would satisfy this requirement.

But by the same token, he's also apparently being considered by Donnie Walsh, who most people would have gladly taken in Milwaukee. The only difference of course is that Walsh has shown he knows how to preside over a team and so could be reasonably expected to reign in some of King's dumber habits (which involve giving ridiculous contracts for role players). Alone in Milwaukee, King would possibly fare worse.

The NBA is an old boys' network. If you have had a job previously and know the right people, you'll probably get another chance even if you did nothing to prove you deserve it.

I knew it, I just knew this was the reason you guys didn't like King.

I believe I stated this before but I would light myself on fire, contort my body to spell out herb sucks in smoke and dive directly into a dump truck full of nitroglycerin.

Billy King has already received more votes in the "GM Poll" above than Rick Sund got in ten days. There is no racial element to any of this.

If we are talking an issue like Chris Paul maybe getting less MVP votes this year than say Steve Nash got in past years, that IMHO is a viable topic on race and something that Oscar Robertson commented on when in town.

But not Billy King.

That comment may have some merit and the poster doesn't have to take a position pro or con on affirmative action. It is plausible Kohl being a US Senator wants to make sure he's interviewing minority candidates.

That said, if Kohl wants to do that, I'd prefer he just re-hire Wayne Embry as team president and move Ron Walter aside. Let Wayne hire the GM.

Most here would be down with that move I think.
