OT: Defending With the Stars/JVG diagrams defenses

Post#1 » by TheGhostDog » Sun Apr 13, 2008 4:37 pm

Considering how often we groan about the Journal-Sentinel's basketball coverage, I was amazed at the sophistication of this interactive basketball chalk talk at the New York Times. I know we are all highly focused on Hammond, hypothetical roster shakeups and the draft at the moment, but I thought some of you might really enjoy a look (and a listen) at this, especially the (many) Jeff Van Gundy fans here.

Yeah that is pretty cool. That took some work to program I bet. I doubt the J/S has a programmer/web developer good enough to even throw that together

Excellent feature... all easier said than done, and it underlines what a lot of us have been saying about the team responsibility of defense, that you need guys who recognize and react quickly.

If you guys like X's and O's you might want to read the better basketball blog. Lots of talk about how NBA teams run sets with accompanying video and diagrams.

Love to have Van Gundy....

He learned from one of the best and one of my favorite teams of all time.
Red Holtzman's New York Knickerbockers and Pat Riley in the Big Apple.

He would be an excellent choice as Head Coach here...

No team in NBA history was has hard working, united, smart, and then devoted to teamwork and defensive intensity then the Knicks in the 70's.

I loved that team as much as the Bucks...at times.

Van Gundy knows all about that. And he implemented it in New York and in Houston.

You can't go wrong with any of these 3-4

Van Gundy
Brown
Carisle
Skiles
Silas
Cowens
