bigzy posted this in the Hammond thread but I thought it was worthy of its own thread given its significance. Very good news if true. Here's the post from bigzy:
Rumour from some people normally in the know here in Indy say that Carlisle is working on a contract deal with the Bucks.

So Larry and better bring some boxes the next time he comes to work?
We all kind of had our suspicions about this and was just a matter of time. But it is nice to here that the Bucks aren't gonna sit on their hands and have everyone in place before the draft.

This would be the best overall week for the Bucks in 7 years if true.

Great news!
Finally a breath of fresh air for this organization. A positive one at that. We definitely needed it. I hope this happens!

This has a feeling like the Grufield/George Karl situations.
Hopefully we get back to the ECF, and then continue taking steps forward, instead of tripping ourselves up....thank you very much Anthony Mason.

Man this is such good news. Now all we need is to get GAD in there as the alternate governor.

If true. At least Kohl has brought in quality people. Now he needs to step aside and let them work.

Same here. I think it's the first time I sat and watched a sig for a couple minutes.
If we get Carlisle it'll really do a lot to build some excitement for this team again.

I'm not opposed to Carlise as coach, but howcome so many on the boards are opposed to Larry Brown as head coach? I always thought he did a tremendous job as coach, minus the days in NY-which is self explainable. He's hard nosed, disciplined and works his tail off, qualities I'd love to see in the next Bucks coach. Is it because he may only stay 2-3 years or so?

I so hope this is true. I've wanted Carlisle since the Pistons let him go. As a Bucks fan I can't really take this much positive news in one week though.
I'm so glad we sucked so bad this year so a positive change could be made in this whole organization.

Although I prefer Jeff Van Gundy slightly, a Carlisle signing would be a MAJOR coup for this organizaiton. Him keeping the post-brawl Pacers teams from imploding for a few seasons is up there with the greatest coaching accomplishments there have been in the history of the league.
Considering we've had three caoches in a row where the players quit on our coach, his ability to keep a team unified certainly can't be overlooked.

I would be so, so happy to hear Rick Carlisle was our coach.
I did want JVG really bad b/c of his defensive and big man expertise, but upon second consideration I do remember how atrocious his teams become on offense.
Rick Carlisle is like a happy medium. Has had good experience with defense without sacrificing offense.
Many concerns with Larry Brown are with how will he treat our rookies and will he influence moves that mortage the future to experience moderate success right now. It is also assumed due to age, that he can not be here long term. He also has health concerns that should make some cautious currently.
There are two things I thought of that all three of these coaches have in common.
1. They all have a history of wearing out their welcome at some point, due to wearing on their players.
2. Perhaps they're correleated, but all three coaches demand hard work and defense.
Hmmm
Whatever, I like the pedigree of coaches that the Bucks are going after

Hammond certainly knows Carlisle and if he thinks Carlisle is the guy despite being fired twice then it's fine with me.

I know what Hammond is thinking. "Why didn't I take the Blue pill."
