Antawn Jamison?

I know alot of people are mixed on this guy, but I've always liked him and I've always wanted him in a Bucks uniform. Obviously he'll command big money and I'm not sure if it's even possible for us, but I'd love to somehow bring him in to play small forward for us.

He's not a good defender, the Bucks don't have the cap space to sign him, and he really doesn't fit our team mold at all playing the small forward spot. Zero chance.

Love him
Not a standout defender
But he's a leader and he's a guy who can put a team on their back. He's a consummate hardworker and a guy who can bring it every night.
Is he a free agent?
Not really sure if we have what it takes to acquire him
He was traded for the #5 pick to go to Washington, so perhaps our first and CV, IDK

How does he not fit the mold? Do we even have a "mold"? I think he'd fit really well. Does alot of good things.
But yeah, alot of people don't like him, but I think he'd work really well. Very difficult to say he wouldn't be an upgrade over Bobby Simmons...

Considering he is a FA and we don't have the cap space, it would have to be a sign and trade, which is very unlikely. On top of that, Jamison is not a good defender and doesn't fit at all with what Hammond is trying to do.

He doesn't seem like a Hammond type of player.. and honestly I don't get the love affair with him anyway. He seems like more of what we already lack..as far as defense is concerned.

I'm sure you could put Redd in that trade if you needed to.
I have to disagree with you on the Hammond comment. Jamison would change the culture of the team and would function well with Bogut. Plus he's a tremendous rebounder.
I'm not entirely in favor of becoming a defensive snail of a team. We still need the offense, which we're getting none of at the small forward spot.
If the moves could be made to create the space, I'd love to see the Bucks take a look at bringing him in.

There's absolutely no way he's a culture change for the team when he's essentially an offense only guy that isn't physical enough to guard PF's and isn't quick enough to guard SF's on the perimeter. You cannot just say he's a culture change, because he is not, he's very similar to CV, just more consistent with scoring/rebounding.
And there is no way to create cap space now, even if we trade for expiring deals in the offseason, they will be expiring after the 08-09 season, not this offseason. There is no way for us to get him as a free agent.

Excuse me!? Team mold????? What "team mold!?" There is no team mold!
Yes he does fit in any team's mold...that is the most off the track thing I have ever!
Are you crazy! There are guys I would want in here more but Antwan is a baller! What the hell are you talking about!?
He scores, he rebounds, he is a smart help defender and can help Bogut and Yi across the frontline!
I like Marion and certainly no one more then Ron Artest who IS A MUST TO GET...
Anyone other then Ron Artest I would not be coming to any Bucks' games next year either...
He is tailor made for what we need and where we need to go. I would look to even put Yi at SF if you dont trade him altogether and go with Ersan Ilyasova...for a backup.
But Jamison is a nice player.

What if in a combination of deals and drafts, our starters next season were:
Ramon Sessions
OJ Mayo
Antawn Jamison
Elton Brand
Andrew Bogut
Obviously a very young backcourt, but I think that team would present a new culture and give us a substantially better opportunity at victories.

This year is the first time Jamison has had an above-average rebound rate for a PF. He's at 15.4 this year (same as CV), but his last five years were at 12.1, 13.5, 11.2, 11.9, and 9.5 Most of those are pretty bad. He'd certainly be a better rebounder if he only played SF, but that doesn't appear to be his natural position.

There's no way for us to create cap space now to sign a FA this summer. We could S/T for him, but that would seem highly unlikely IMO.

I'm no cap expert and that seems like a major hurdle, but I have to believe it could get done if that was what the Bucks wanted to do.

Actually it is a physical impossibility.

I'm not sure that's accurate.
He'd be a nice player to bring in, despite the opinions of some on this board and I'd love to see it happen.

After reading trade idea after trade idea, and ideas to get players that are probably out of our reach, I am finally to the point where I don't want to make any suggestions on how to make this team into a contender.
I am at a point of peace now that we have signed up John Hammond. People from Detroit keep saying "he will make decisions that make you scratch your head, but know that it will make your team better." I finally feel very good about the direction of the Bucks Organization.

I like him but even if the Bucks had the cap room to sign him (which they don't) I think the time has come to stop chasing after players who can't defend.

Good lord man, are you trying to be difficult? There is no possible way to obtain cap space for an offseason if you don't have any cap space after the trading deadline.

i get mixed up on this stuff, is he a totally unrestricted free agent or are there bird rights or something involved here?
i think what nebula is looking for is the physical possibility that jamison could fall in love with milwaukee and come here for a lot less money

I'm looking for a catalyst player to man the small forward spot. I'm not sure there's one in the draft.
I think the top small forwards in the draft are Smith, Rush and CDR, but none of those guys are catalyst guys.
I don't think a GM, head coach, point guard or any of that matters until we get a small forward who can change a game.

He's unrestricted with Bird rights, so the Wiz can re-sign him for whatever, and they could also S/T him to a team over the cap if they got the correct amount of salary coming back.
