Anything discussed regarding a new facility?
With the Sonics impending move, there is a very real possibility that we could be next, if Kohl decides to sell the team. Either way, he won't own the team forever.
So what needs to be done?
What are the usual ways through which money can be raised?
What's stopping that from happening?
I'm guessing a competitive facility would cost around $500 million. How much would naming rights bring in? How much of a tax increase would be required?

You can forget about a tax increase, that's NOT going to happen. There are a lot of people still ticked off about the Miller Park tax.
It's going to take a visionary business person who understands that a new building should be part of a larger entertainment complex. There will need to be some government leadership as well but we don't have that around here.
As much bashing as Kohl gets around here (deservedly so) he has never threatened to move the team. And unfortunately that may be the only way to get something done.
But until the team starts winning no one is even going to talk about a new building.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Herb Kohl is a lying douche.
Whoever is actually in charge of doing anything politically in Milwaukee are incompetant douches.
And the most important reason
Herb Kohl is a lying douche.

Kohl will not get a new building while he is still owner without chipping in a big chunk of his own money, which he won't do. Since he forked over $25 million to UW for their building it would be expected he would do the same for the Bucks. But he won't.
A new building plan won't happen until there is an ownership change.
The sooner the better.

I wasn't here for the Miller Park taxation - what was the tax increase? Wasn't it like a tenth of a percent? Is that significant enough to make ANY difference in our daily lives?

No, but you'd be surprised how many people would not pay 1/10th of one cent to help fund a new arena. People are just stingy.

Exactly, people that are still pissed about that need to get over it. Miller Park has been great for the city of Milwaukee and the fans of the Brewers. I would gladly pay tax money to fund a new arena for the Bucks.
