"A source said Larry Harris and Mark Warkentien are emerging as the Knicks' top GM candidates over Billy King, who spoke with Walsh earlier this week. Walsh may be searching for a hardcore scout guy to do the bulk of travel, which isn't King's forte."

I think Walsh is too smart to make that decision but we will see, he has a past history with King so I would think he has the advantage.

Harris is well respected around the league it won't be a popular hire but I think he would be great for the job....I always thought Harris was better suited for big market team not a small market like the Bucks.

He did such a good job spending his money wisely with the Bucks..

LH will just be the middleman an do Walsh's dirty work. Obviously Walsh is going to have the final say on all decisions...sound familiar?

Sounds like an enven trade to me.

At least they'll have some consistency in NY - replace one free-spending GM with another. And Harris will be the ultimate winner in that finally finds a way to get Randolph on his roster, with no way for Kohl to stop it.

truthfully LH did a good job of blowing up the grunfeld/Karl mess, which had a bunch of dead weight contracts and rebuilding the Bucks to a point where they had a lot of good young talent, now that talent never meshed into a "team" which has been the Bucks problem the last 2 seasons but in the case of the Knicks I think LH could do a nice job of trading away all their crap and and getting some fresh talent on that Knicks squad. Him having Donnie Walsh to go to and guide some decisions i think will go a long way vs LH having Herb Kohl or Ron Walter in the same spot here. I dont think it would be a bad move for the knicks esp. if they r looking at this as a multiple year process which it needs to be.

And he gave those contracts right to Gadz and Simmons who might as well be dead weight.

Isn't the GM's job to assemble a "team" not just talent? If that is indeed the case then LH can only be described as failing at that in MIlwaukee.

The difference is that Walsh knows basketball and Kohl does not.

LH can't be praised for assembling talent. The big moves that he made to add talent were giving huge contracts to Redd/Simmons/Gadzuric/Williams (none of those contracts should lead us to give Harris credit), and drafting Bogut/Yi/Ilyasova/Markota/Noel/Sessions. Only Sessions looks like a good draft pick out of that entire list. Is there anything that leads us to believe that this group is more talented than what I could have put together by drafting whoever is rated highest on draftexpress.com?

I couldn't agree more, I'm sure LH will be an asset to Walsh. I guess I'm just saying, yeah, he might be "General Manager" of the New York Knicks, but it'll be more of a title than anything.
