In Hammond do you trust?

Post#1 » by -Jragon- » Tue Apr 22, 2008 5:27 pm

Many Detroit fans lived by the motto, "In Dumars we trust," because although his moves may have been questionable at first, many worked out. I am adopting the same motto about Hammond and am wondering how many of you feel the same way.

IMO even though the Skiles hiring looks risky, I can see a long-term dynasty of winning forming if he and Hammond build a trusting relationship. I'm not sure that Larry Brown or Rick Carlisle could have dedicated themselves to Milwaukee long term.

In Hammond I trust!

He's the GM I wanted and he's hired a head coach I really like who I believe is just what this team needs. So far, he's batting 1.000. The tough decisions are to come with regard to shaping the roster. That's where the true test will reside for Hammond but I'm confident in his ability to make the right decisions. He won't be perfect (no GM could ever be) but I believe he understands what needs to be done on this team.

We don't know which of the Detroit deals Hammond was responsible for, so I can't go completely for the blind faith thing. I'll evaluate each deal as I see it with no preconceptions about whether it's more likely to be good or bad just because of who made it.

I got a chuckle out of the 'Hammond is my captain' phrasing, reminded me of Dead Poets society to point where I'll be hearing Keating's Triumph whenever I read Hammond's name.

Hammond could do an awful job, but it won't be anything we haven't seen before. Hard to top the past 2 Harris years, so he has that going for him. Hiring Skiles is a big gold star and he's saying all the right things.

As long as we have a basketball guy making our decisions, I'm willing to take the good with the bad.

I'm on board and I'm going wherever Hammond takes me...

Now I just want Skiles to sprinkle some of that magic dust that he was talking about in his press conference.

I say anything is better than where we were... although CV will be in trouble when Skiles doesn't let him wear a headband.

As fans we probably got the most we could hope for and each hire was a well thought out and rational decision.

But I've also lived through the press conference where COY Mike Dunleavy was dumping the Lakers to come to Milwaukee and that didn't turn out so great.

Who knows whether Hammond knows what he's doing. As Adamcz said, he's got to prove himself before one could blindly co-sign a move.

But we'll give him the benefit of the doubt for a couple years like we did Larry Harris.

The real sense of hope stems from the fact that we have basketball people making basketball decisions....crazy. Plus we have an experienced head coach, with a winning record and a record of his teams playing exceptional defense.....crazy

Not after this hire!

It's really more a product of my general distaste for everything having to do with this team. I really needed the team to do something that convinced me that they were trying to make themselves into a contender. What they did was hire a coach from whom we can expect a 2nd-round Playoff exit at best!

Did anyone think the Bucks could win a title under Terry Porter? How about Terry Stotts? Was anyone honestly expecting anyhting better than the 1st round of the Playoffs under Larry Krapstowiak?

All we've done is to hire the next in line of underwhelming, unimpressive also-rans. The only differenece is that this guy doesn't care who he pisses off along the way, and when things get really bad, when he's pissed off all his players to the point where they won't play for him anymore, he just quits. But the thing that makes me the most upset is that Skiles was the first and only candidate the Bucks interviewed! There are guys out there who have won championships! There are guys who have CONSISTENTLY won 50 games a season! But, once again, we settled on the first piss-ant who walked through the door!

To paraphrase Rick from Downtown, "Thanks a whole hell of a lot, Senator!"

This is the last straw for me. I am no longer interested in what goes on at 1001 N. 4th Street. Sure, I'll watch a game from time to time, and I'll always be around to run smack. But, barring a complete overhaul of the lineup, I will NEVER spend another dime of my money on Bucks tickets, or anything Bucks-related. With this hire, the organization has proven to me that they will only do the BARE MINIMUM necessary to prevent an all-out fan revolt. They don't care about contending, and winning games is only a peripherial benefit.

At least they have Milwuakee sports fans to keep coming back and putting down their hard-earned money, no matter how mediocre or worse the team is!

I'm on board. Skiles has always been one of my favorite coaches. Here's hoping that my Bucks become the new, never say die Cockroaches of the Central.

I'm skeptical. I think there's much to be excited about, but I'll wait and see what he does. I'm not a huge fan of the Skiles hire, but upgrades are upgrades.
