hell yeah baby free concert for UW students....can't wait

heard the girl that's opening for him last night....she's mediocre and i have no idea how she won the "all campus idol" because there were WAY better performances

oh yeah and i'm in the f'in balcony because i didn't know we had to go pick up tickets until like a week after they were available...a female friend of mine has never heard a single one of his songs and she's sitting like third row...go figure

Well, I have a ticket, but am selling it, making a quick 20 bucks. Can't go because I have a discussion. Pretty bummerish.

wish i could, got to see him a few years ago though, he puts on a pretty good show..

I like Talib better than Common and saw Common 2 years ago at the all-campus party...I was probably 5th row, too.

I'm too busy right now to go to the Talib conert it's been sad I haven't really even been able to think about it lately with all the projects I've had to do.

i used to like kweli more than common, but im not really into his newer stuff as much.. guess i was spoiled by reflection eternal

Maybe if it was Dierks Bentley,Kenny Chesney, or Carrie underwood, I'll pass on Talib Kweli, thanks though

i like kweli but not as much live, his voice usually doesn't sound that good

Can I say something that will make you all hate me? Ok thanks: Any rap concert I've been to (and it's probably only been five-ish) has seemed like kareokee night to me. Just one or two guys rapping along with a pre-recorded tape/cd/whatever, word for word the same as on the album. One time there was also a dj scratching along with the recording, but that's basically the same thing. What's with that? It fulfills none of the reasons why I think live music needs to exist. (because no recording technology will ever capture the true sound and feeling of live instruments - especially if projected without mics, and because you witness a unique performance that will never be re-created ever again)

What am I missing? Of course this doesn't apply to rappers who tour with bands, or who do mostly freestyling, etc.

i've seen everyone from snoop, jay and 50 to people no one on here has ever heard of and there's such a disparity between who's good live and who isn't.

i've seen people suck horribly with a live band and there was a guy that opened for rhymefest last winter rhyming over beats he played from his powerbook that he had to walk over and control. probably just played through itunes and he was great.

as dumb as the lyrics are sometimes, hip hop is the lyrics and the energy and skill of the rapper, not the beat. imo of course

plus, a lot of rappers switch up the flow they use to make it different from the cd, and brother ali does a lot of songs with totally different beats.

Adam if you're looking for good shows as far as hip hop I recommend

I don't know if this exists everywhere, or just NYC, but have you seen the guys who are trying to pump their basement-made CDs out of a van with their picture painted on it? I swear they are using beats that they stole off of some popular CD, and they just wrote new lyrics. Their CDs are CD-Rs with "jackets" printed out on their ink-jet printers. But I always see people lining up to buy them!

that's pretty common, instrumentals are extremely easy to get
