Put in a bid for Dirk or Amare

I realize there is a 10 percent chance either guy gets traded this offseason.

But we all know that if you are a team that has knocked on the door for years but never gotten in, you can get desperate.

Assuming both teams get knocked out in round one, you'd have to say both have had their window and it is over.

Next year the Lakers, Hornets, Utah and San Antonio will all be better again. Houston is a wildcard. Portland gets Oden. Dallas and Phoenix aren't going anywhere but down, even if gradually.

I'd put everyone on the table with the exception of Bogut. And make a call at the end of their seasons.

I'd love either of them obviously, but am I the only guy on here who really doesn't like Dirk? I mean I really dislike him. I hate the way he plays the game, I don't like his attitude, I just don't like him. The guy can seriously play though.

Yup, let's take advantage of someone else who's desperate, not the other way around. For once.

I liked the Redd/Yi/7th pick for Dirk that you brought up earlier. We could also try that same package for Amare.

From there, I think the challenge after that would be bringing in some athleticism at the sf spot. However we'd still have Mo and CV as trade bait.

I'd still do the Mo for Haslem trade, and then try sending CV to the sixers for Carney. And I'd finish the offseason off by signing Duhon to a two year deal.

Sessions/Duhon
Bell/Mason
Carney/Simmons
Dirk/Haslem
Bogut/Haslem

I think thats a nice 9 man rotation, and you can't under estimate the effect a guy like Dirk would have on the bucks in the eastern conference.

I HATE DIRK, the whole mavericks team is full of CRAP.
honestly the best player on there team is BASS, i wouldnt want anyone from them except bass
The Mavericks will never win with there GARBAGE ASS team

and AMARE is untouchable, absolutely UNTOUCHABLE

I think Kerr will just fire D'antoni. They already don't like each other, and kerr could say d'antoni should have fouled (twice) in game one.

Im with the both of you. Yes, Dirk is a very good player, but he is by FAR, my least favorite player in the league

does anyone find it funny that Mike D'Antoni may take the fall for Steve Kerrs idiotic trade...

Amare is the most untouchable player on the suns .....your talking about pulling a Celtic for KG type of trade and for the sake of our future we cannot risk that. Hammond just got the job Ainge was on the hot seat and had to make a huge deal for the sake of his job.

I'll take Dirk any day...
He's been the best player on a team that made it to the finals. I think any time the bucks have a chance to aquire a guy like that, they'd have to take it.

I would do that trade too, but honestly, why in the hell would Dallas or PHX do that?

Yeah I can't see it happening either...
Just wishful thinking :)

I'm not sure why either team would do it, but if either team decides it is time to reconstruct, you have to see what is out there.

Usually a rebuilding team with value like say Memphis with a young star (Gay) and top 2008 pick won't want to take on a 30-year old max all-star type player like Dirk or Amare (I know Amare is younger)

So then you have to look and see who has some interesting pieces. If you believe in Yi, I could see Phoenix trying something different with Redd and Yi and then also getting who they want at #7.

I mean I really like Amare, but he and Dirk are both scorers who can't defend.

In the case of Dallas, I don't know what you do with that team. I don't like that talent mix and they are all maxed out down there.

For us, we just need to get to 50-wins and some respectability. We do need an elite scorer. Dirk or Amare teamed with Bogut might do that pretty fast.

I don't see either of those teams trading their stars, as they just made go-for-broke trades at the deadline.

Sure, early indications are that the Kidd and Shaq trades haven't worked out as well as they could have, but that doesn't mean either team is ready to pull the plug. If anything, i think both of them are more likely to double down on the bet and go for a ring considered both have already mortgaged their futures.

What good would it do either to rebuild while they are stuck with Kidd or Shaq at 20 mill a year or so? It makes much more sense to go for another star and grab a ring, especially considering neither team has had a full training camp to get the chemistry correct yet either.

I think you target wrong man from Suns. If Suns go that way they will trade Nash actually. At least they should.

Do you watch Spurs against Suns? It is Parker who rape Suns. And yes it is Nash who should defend him. Nash is absolutly terrible defender. Almost as bad as our own Mo honestly. And he is geting older and older. White and soft he will not play many more years. At least not on high level. And even his offansive game is not nearly as good as it was before.

Suns had terrible defense since they signed Nash (and Mavs have much better defense since they let him go). His main problem at defense is defending pick and roll and that is main way how their oponents atack them. But Nash at PG together with Marion at PF (with quicknes and speed of SF) and Amare at C (with quicknes and speed of PF) gave them that running offense that was unstopable and perfect. That offense make them great even though they had terrible defense.

When they traded Marion for Shaq they lost that offense and they still kept that terrible defense as Nash was still there.

As it looks right now Nash has no that much of value for Suns anymore. They don't run and gun anymore so they can't use his offense the way it should be and he hurt their defense big time.

Combine that with his age and he is clearly the one to be traded. Amare is young weapon and he is going nowhere. The guy is young, big, quick, strong, has jump shot, great hands and great finishing in paint. He is scorers of all scorers and great weapon. He is going nowhere. He is defense is bad but you can hide one bad defender.

Spurs are 3-0 because Suns can't stop guards. Suns are good inside but not outside.

Nash make no sense for Suns anymore.

Now, would you like Nash with Bucks? I would. All that I said above is true for Suns but they are fighting for championship. Buck would be extreamly happy with 50 wins in season and Nash can still do that. Especially at east.

Redd and Mo for Nash and Diaw? How about that?

I do that deal of Nash/Diaw for Redd/Mo........ I don't see the Suns trading Nash simply because of his "star power" but I agree his defense is a huge problem right now.

Maybe its just hard to guard good PG's, and requires a team effort to contain them.

Maybe. But I trust my eyes. And if I decide to not trust my eyes then I will trust Mark Jackson and JVG who spent all night talking about Nash's mistakes and how terrible defender he is.

Nash has always been a bad defender. The difference is that Marion used to guard the point guard, while also providing weakside help defense at the rim. Hill and Giricik aren't quite as effective.

It's funny that they wanted to add defense, by trading their best defender. Especially, since that guy has probably been one of the top 5 defensive players every year, for the last decade.

didn't we draft dirk and then trade him for tractor traylor?
