I like that he got it, although Chris Paul could have easily gotten it.

Its funny a guy wants to be traded and then after the season is named MVP.

Paul should have gotten it, but I'm fine with giving Kobe since he deserved one all these years.

Paul is 'Most Valuable.' Kobe maybe the best player in the NBA but we are not questioning that...

The definition of 'Most Valuable' for his team is very different...indeed.

I agree with him too. On the plus side, we can feel strange together.

You can't complain when the award goes to someone who deserves it. Others deserved it as well (Paul and Garnett), but Kobe put up 28/6/5 with good defense, and was the main reason the Lakers landed 1st place in the West.

Years from now, nobody will look at Kobe among the list of MVPs and say "how could they have given this guy the award"?

I think that Kobe is the best player in the game and has been for a couple of years.

Paul, LBJ, KG, Howard were certainly worthy candidates, but it seems very fair to give it to the best player in the game.

I guess I see it this way, MJ was the best player in the game by far for most of his career. He should have been MVP pretty much every one of those years. I know it can be argued the definition of MVP, but I am just guessing that every team would get a lot better with MJ on their squad. Pretty darn valuable player imo. MVP of the decade perhaps.

About time... I'm not a Kobe fan, and I hate to see him other than when is on the court, but he is far and away the best and most valuable player in the NBA. It's not even close...

He scores, rebounds, creates, plays D, carries the team when they need it, makes those around him look great and most importantly he wins.

I'm glad the 'experts' put their crap aside and will finally give him what he should already have.

I'm a little surprised Derrick Rose didn't win it though. He was definitely top 4 IMO.

Nobody in the league is far and away the most valuable player in the NBA. Its not like when Jordan was dominating and the voters had to look for any excuse not to give him the MVP.

Lebron carries his worthless team. Paul carried his team to one less win than the Lakers and they don't have the overall talent the Lakers have. Its hard to differentiate between those three at the top, and especially between Paul and Bryant because of their teams success.

Personally, I'd have voted for Paul. I'd guess that the voting will be very close.

I think that Kobe is the best player. Perhaps not far and away the best like Jordan was, but yes the he's the closest thing to Jordan imo that we have seen since he retired.

Very fluid, graceful and explosive athlete. Much like Jordan was.

Kobe or Nash for example? Kobe easily.

Paul Gasol means more to the Lakers than Kobe Bryant does

I would have gone for Paul...Kobe's had a great year but this just seems like a lifetime achievement award.

And I'm always surprised people so unflinchingly call Kobe the best player in the game over LeBron. All LBJ does is carry the Cavs every year to 50ish wins while putting up clearly better numbers with basically no help. And I really don't see Kobe as having much of an edge defensively anymore.

I wouldn't rank Kobe ahead of Duncan. In terms of pure talent yes, but not in terms of being the best player in the game.

As far as the MVP, I would've voted for Paul by a narrow margin over Kobe.

This was a pretty easy decision, IMO.

Chris Paul, hands down.

Is MVP suppossed to be the best player? Or the guy who is the most important player to his team? Well, Chris Paul is both.

Paul is not a better player than Kobe. Not yet anyways.
