He was extremely impressive in his rookie season and now will be a RFA. He's the type of hard worker and well rounded player that Hammond would certainly love. As much as he states he loves Houston and wants to go back, there is no place like home.

What type of an offer would you make and what would it take to get Houston not to match?

Out of curiosity, did did the Badgers just not really pursue him or did they pursue him and he chose Purdue? I guess that would help me gauge his interest in playing back at home. There are plenty of other factors that could have factored into his decision but I am just wondering.

He went to Vincennes JUCO before going to Purdue. Grades were the reason Wisconsin didn't pursue him.

During his predraft workout interview last year he stated that he was a big Bucks' fan growing up and would be thrilled to play for Milwaukee.

But if he's a restricted free agent he doesn't exactly have a choice where he goes. I'd imagine Houston would match any reasonable offer which was made.

I love Landry so I would love to see him here. I believe that a part of the MLE could be enough.

Landry has played really well for Houston, and I wouldn't mind having him, but I suspect that the Rockets will do what they can to keep him (within reason).

A good way to think about it is if the Rockets don't want to pay up to retain him, he probably isn't worth our offer. Or the remote chance that it doesn't work out for their financial big picture.

I think that this is an interesting thread/topic for two reasons. The first, is that if the Bucks do go forward and trade Yi (due to agent Dan Fegan's insistance) Houston is one of the most obvious trade partners.

The second reason why I think Landry should be on our radar is that if the Bucks go ahead and try to move Mike Redd, I think Houston would be one of the main teams that was interested.

Nothing more than a gut feeling here, but sometimes there are guys out there that seem like obvious trade targets. And if the Bucks are serious about changing the team and organizational culture, guys like Landry and Battier would be exactly the kind of guys that they should want. Not saying those two exactly... but "Hammond Ball" and "Skiles Ball" places a premium on effort, efficiency, versatility, and (for lack of a better word) "coachability"...

I would consider trading Yi and Bobby for Battier and (a resigned) Landry. Seems like it could work cap wise, and seems like it would make lots of sense for both teams.

But I can't over-value him like this. This guy isn't even close to Haslem yet and may never be.

I know last May/June a bunch of guys were hot on offering Amir Johnson of the Pistons a full MLE offer. Amir didn't do so great this season.

If we are going to trade or blow the MLE on role player types, then let's go for guys who have done something for multi-years like Josh Childress, Haslem or Francisco Garcia.

I agree. I like Landry a lot but the Bucks would likely have to overpay to pry him away from Houston and if they're going to invest all or most of their ML on one player I'd rather see them go after Josh Childress instead. If the Bucks weren't able to swing a trade for a SF, I'd have no problems seeing them offer a full ML deal to Childress to see if the Hawks will match it.

Really, not even close? If you project Landry's numbers to the same amount of minutes as Haslem, he averages 4.5 points more, 1 rebound, same blocks, and a far superior field goal percentage. He's a more explosive finisher than U-Dip around the goal. He is knocked for his jumper, but he could shoot from mid-range in college, and from the free throw stripe. If he begins to translate that aspect of his game, he could be better than Haslem. He is a few years younger, with significantly less experience.

U-Dip is your boy. I wouldn't be disappointed with him either....but I'm calling a bit of bias here, PP.

Rookie Carl Landry will be a restricted free agent, but he said he wants to be back with the Rockets.

"This is where I want to be," he said. "I love Houston. It's not my decision. It's the Rockets' decision. Both sides have to agree. But I love Houston. This is home. I hope to be back next year.

"I think for a rookie I did a great job contributing to this team. It's only going to get better. That's what I'm looking forward to
