OK so we are about a 15% chance I think to get a top 3 pick. (Rose, Beasley, Mayo.) So what can we do to move up if we don't get lucky? I'm assuming that nobody will trade away a top two pick so I'm targeting Mayo and as such looking to move a guard. I'm also assuming that none of Seattle, Memphis or Minny want to deal as they are going very young. That leaves:

Miami. If the Heat get the 3rd pick I'd trade Mo and the 7th pick for Blount and their pick. I don't want Blount but this move means we are going young and he becomes a sizable expiring at the same time as Simmons.

Clippers. Redd and 7 for pick 3, Mobley and tiny Tim. Again both guys expire with Simmons and Mobley is handy.

New York. I have no idea what the Knicks want to do but they might go for Redd and 7 for pick 3, Malik Rose and Q Rich. Rose would be a 7 mil expiring and Q Rich expires the next year again with Bobby.

Thoughts? better ideas? Other ways we can move up?

I like the Clippers scenario, but see if you can move Redd and pry away Maggette like I mentioned in an earlier thread...

I like Tim Thomas too coming back in the deal as well. Move Gadzuric to them as well...

I like the Knicks players too. All except Eddy Curry. But do the Clippers deal and target Elton Brand if he is unrestricted...

I would also see what is going on with Baron Davis as well. Love that guy's game...and cutthroat style.

Wish we could get SJack along with him but that is asking too much I persume...I would dangle them Yi and Redd.

Leave our pick from that and I like them all. I think we don't need to add our pick for that trades to work.

That'd be nice but I think Mayo is rated pretty damn high.

Otherwise, the Bucks will end up overpaying him.

I like the kid, he just isn't great at anything. It seems like we are constantly trying to find the right guy to put next to him.

To me, Yi is a center. Put an inside scoring power forward next to Yi, and now we are talking. Now, we are starting to resemble Utah.

Or, trade Yi and try to aquire a dominant defensive center (Diop) to put next to Villanueva. And, bring Bogut off the bench.

Sigra, the other #1 overall Bucks pick, was Kent Benson.

Fair enough if Bogut was asking for too much but is there any indication of that yet?

The only way i would trade up is to get Rose. Highly likely to most probable he goes to the Knicks or Heat. It is the David Stern's way. Beasley doesn't defend and Mayo may not be a team player. Rather stay where we are( if we end up at 7) and go for Westbrook who is a great defender and a team player.

Beasley might not defend all that well, but he could be a Boozer type power forward in this league. As long as he doesn't have to go against Stiemsma that is.

Mayo may be another Jamal Crawford, or he may be Brandon Roy. I think the kid is going to be a winner.

Westbrook is all potential right now. I like him alot, but I don't know if he is the right pick for us. I suppose if the Bucks stay at 7, and don't make any other moves, it's really a crapshoot between 'potential' guys like Westbrook, Randolph, Jordan, etc. Unless, they shock everybody and take CDR there, which the likely won't do.

I guess it is hard to talk trading up, without knowing where the teams will be picking.

Yep, I think I would much rather have like Brandon Rush or CDR and Joey Dorsey than just Eric Gordon or Anthony Randolph

Or Westbrook. I just don't think there's much difference between 7 and 15 this year so if you can swap 7 for a mid-round pick and get a second first as well I think that'd be a strong move to make.

I'd deal Bogut to get one of Beasley, Rose or Mayo. After those three are gone I see the drop-off.

I'm not in favor of dealing down unless we get an unprotected first round pick next season. I like Gordon and Westbrook quite a bit and I don't want to pass up a shot at either.

When people talk of dealing down to get two picks, why don't they simply say deal with New Jersey. They're the only team with two first round picks in this draft, right? Unless they move up from 10 and into the top three, they'll have the #10 and #21st picks in the draft.

I think it's pretty much understood that the Nets are the team most of us are talking about when the discussion involves moving down for multiple picks. I'd also consider moving down to get a mid first and a proven vet as well.

I'm betting that we deal out of the draft.

There is definitely a talent gap between Gordon/Westbrook and CDR/Rush. I am of the opinion we need to add to the talent base, and am more concerned we need to get the BPA than to just add solid player depth.

If we don't land top 3, I'd be happy with any of Westbrook, Gordon, Randolph, and less-so Love. Yes, none are guaranteed stars, but they have a better chance of success than guys taken later, IMO.

Westbrook is a perfect fit for our current roster. A player that can guard the 1 and the 2 and can get to the rim and out in the open floor. Gordon and Randolph would be picks on talent alone, which I have no problem with (much like DrugBust's philosophy).

If we are going to move the pick, it needs to be for a talent upgrade at one of the starter positions over what we currently have. Otherwise I am not an advocate of moving it.

Another team could pick up another pick between now and then, and we could also make a deal for a later pick plus a future pick. If I were Hammond, I'd feel a lot more comfortable picking a little farther back in the first round where my track record sparkles.

I don't really look at it that way, because we've never seen Hammond pick early because his team was always extremely good. Not saying he hasn't done well late in the first, but there is nothing to say he can't do well early in the first, just hasn't had the chance (outside of Darko, who a lot of teams thought should have been a top 3 pick).

This team needs to add to the overall talent base in my opinion. I'm not an advocate of moving down. NJ isn't going to give up #10 and #21 to move up three spots anyway.

There are more options than that.

Mo and Redd could both be dealt for first round picks, you never know.
