OT! OFF TOPIC! Question for PP Regarding Bumping Old Threads

Post#1 » by SupremeHustle » Tue May 6, 2008 2:54 pm

So, what's the policy on bumping old threads?

I bumped an old thread regarding Bogut, a perfectly fine thread where I was begging for other players to give him positive reinforcement, but suddenly it was gone, without explanation.

Which brings me to another point. Why delete posts without explaining why? Wouldn't that doom a poster to continue to unwittingly tick off the delete button gods? Do the delete button gods not realize how antagonizing that can be? I'm not condoning what BucksRule did, but I understand. Some guys put a lot of effort into their posts just to have them deleted.

Facts need to be faced. It's a slow time. Guys enjoy chatting/debating on this board on a wide assortment of topics. You can't just have topics and posts one person approves of. And just because that one person might be offended doesn't mean it should be deleted.

Anyways, bumping old threads is harmless and it's fun to revisit. I mean, really, how many times can we debate Mo/Redd?

I know this was addressed to PP and he can share his views as well.

Personally I see nothing wrong with bringing up old threads if they are relevant to our current situation with the Bucks.

I know there have been a couple of threads that have disappeared here recently. PP and I do not delete threads. If a thread gets out of hand it's locked.

If there is an old thead you think would be interesting to discuss by all means bump it up. But bringing up a thread just to say "I told you so" isn't always relevant.

We are both always happy to discuss specific situations via PM as well.

I've been looking for an old thread where it was debated whether Marcus Fizer was the "missing piece" but I can't find it. 8)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but were do these threads disappear to if they are not deleted? Does a lock put it back in it's natural place in the universe?

I love when old threads get bumped. And BR22 did bump two decent threads early this morning. I have no clue what happened to them since neither MD nor I deleted them.

One of two things occurred. Either another mod thought something was getting out of hand, or the software on this site is unstable as it related to old threads. I do not know which it is. Since you reference your Bogut thread going away, I'm actually leaning towards this being a software problem with certain archived data but am not sure.

I will delete threads or posts in cases where the thread is very offensive and/or trolling. Anything else that just gets out of hand or is duplicate gets locked.
