Could D'Antoni be our chance to unload contract garbage?

I remember in the not to distant past that we had discussed Mike D'Antoni wanting players like Mo Williams and Dan Gadzuric to fit his play style. Is there any chance that we could unload these kinds of players onto the Knicks?

I could see them making a run for CV if D'Antoni signs up... CV is a D'Antoni type player.. no defesne-all offense.. can rebound, shoot the ball from the 3 and also is pretty athletic.. I could see them inquiring abt him IF pringles becomes their headcoach..

Gadzuric doesn't fit anyone's play style.

he would do well in this event, this fits his style, "run as fast as i can"

He would trip and just get absolutely trampled.

Villanueva/Dez

FOR

David Lee/Malik Rose

Lee would be an upgrade over Villanueva and could either start at PF if Yi isn't ready or provide a strong backup. Rose brings a larger expiring deal than what Dez has. So that's a strong trade asset the Bucks could use at the deadline.

The problem is that Isiah is no longer running the Knicks. Ha ha.

Edit: This would be a plan C after first trying for Haslem or Varajao via trading Mo. I think those guys are better defenders.

It certainly couldn't hurt Milwaukee to have D'Antoni in NY. I don't think D'Antoni wants the Knicks job... he wants a win now job but is using the Knicks as leverage with the Bulls... and if the Bulls don't want to pay the big Bucks then I could see him settling for the Knicks.

He's certainly going to want to win tho, which isn't in the Knicks best interest this season.

I just think that we have a lot of run and gun offensive players that play no defense, and that his system is predicated on just that kind of player. We might not need to unload garbage cap, but I think that we could easily unload players that don't fit our coach onto the Knicks.

That style of play is going to be a lot harder to make successful without Nash or some other highly skilled point guard.

The Knicks don't have a good PG on their roster and if he took the Bulls job, Hinrich hardly fits that style of play. Hinrich is much more of a half court PG given he doesn't push the ball all that well and he doesn't penetrate the paint well.

I agree. But I see more of a Gadz for Jerome James type deal.

Gadz obviously fits the uptempo style better than James, who may or may not be dead. Who knows?

Anyway, it shaves a year off of Gadz's deal for us, which brings it in line to expire with Simmons. That is huge, especially if we end up doing Redd for TT/Mobley/#6 or Hughes/#9 and/or Mo for Haslem. That brings all our expirings together for a trading bonanza 2 years from now.

I think that James could be a legitimate backup center as well. I think he could give us minutes, and an exit from New York could be an excellent way to get him back on track.

I, personally, think that the Clippers deal is too good to be true. Hughes/#9 seems more in line with something I could see us getting. I think we are going to either get only picks, or be saddled with another albatross contract. We are not going to be able to unload salary and get a high lottery pick as per the Clipper trade.
