Skiles comment from MJS:
“I’m disappointed for Mike,” said coach Scott Skiles. “Mike has bought into everything that we’re trying to do. In my opinion, he was in the middle of his best season because he was playing both ends of the floor for us. He was on an incredible shooting-scoring tear the last month once he got back whole from his ankle injury. Obviously, he’ll be sorely missed and we going to need multiple guys to step up and make up for his absence.”

Sobering thought of the week: Michael Redd is going to be here for another year and a half, minimum.
Ugh.
Ugh.

Michael was playing great. He just dropped 44 and gave up his body in Portland. He was getting inside and getting his points. He wasn't even getting calls. I feel really bad for him. He was having a good season.

This is why summer basketball is so dangerous to NBA players. Bogut needs to take note.

I don't think it's a coincidence that both players who have had injury problems for the Bucks are ones who played in the Olympics. Deron Williams has had his injury issues this season too. You certainly don't want to tell a player not to be an Olympian. It's an incredible honor. But this is the potential risk involved because you're playing so long and so consistently over the course of a couple of seasons. I think that may be why both Redd and Bogut struggled out of the gate this season and why both have had injury issues this season.
Nothing will not break me.

it was a tear that happened because of an impact, shouldn't have anything to do with fatigue

a serious question. should the bucks go into a tank mode now and set their sites on getting a top 5 pick? or should they play their way through this injury and end up with a 10-13 pick? maybe somebody will step up their play and fill the void. is it too much to ask for gadz to fill Bogut's void ?

To answer your questions:
1. The Bucks have tanked three times in recent years (a fourth time would truly be depressing) and only once have they gotten a Top 5 pick. So the odds are against it happening.
2. Yes.

Jesus **** christ.
The Bucks HAVEN'T TANKED. Until major moves are made to deplete this roster of talent on or before the trade deadline, you can simply say this team didn't have the talent to overcome key injuries. That's what brought them to the lotto.
Europa, you're completely wrong.

Re: Redd IS out for season per Woelfel
i hate to state the obvious, but both redd and bogut have had multiple injuries in seasons when not playing for their respective olympic teams.
if you're looking for an excuse , why not just blame Ridnour or the shoes ? or the bradley Center's floor? or the really cold winds of the really cold city of milwaukee? or it could be those new lazy boy recliners on the market that have weakened their knees. or perhaps, there just isn't enough leg room in their BMW they drive which has weakened their knees?
Just the thought of playing on the Olympics team ruined Arenas' legs this year.
Yi was also injured before the olympics. Should we blame Yi's current injury on playing in the olympics?
Bowie must have played on the olympic team too.

I hope Redd is able to get his knee back to 100%, and get back on the court for us ASAP. Sans his 4th quarter play, he was playing great ball for us on both ends on the court this year.

I'm hesitant to blame the Olympic play because there are so many non-Olympians injured each year, and also lots of Olympians who are doing just fine.
I think we'd have to actually figure out the percentages to see if we're using some sort of an anecdotal bias.

There is zero chance we go into "tank" mode. Anyone thinking we shouldn't be putting our best foot forward to win every game is not seeing the big picture. I'm disappointed. I liked Redd and do not think he's our problem, even with his large salary number, but the fact that he's now done for this year and possibly some of next is truly depressing because even if Hammond wanted to trade him, he basically can't.
I'm sad to see him down, as he was head and shoulders our best scorer, and a offensively challenged team. I wanted to see our culture change. Hopefully it still can.

Re: Redd IS out for season per Woelfel
the definition of tanking is a rather subjective one. telling bogut to take the rest of the year off rather than playing in pain at 90% is included in my definition of tanking.
a case could be made the bucks weren't tanking in those 3 years, they were just a really bad team with a really bad coach. if that is your choice, then i would say they had a really bad G M who should have done a better job of conveying his desires of tanking to his players and coaches.
if hammond does the right thing and starts trading key players away for draft picks, or conley, or to save money, in my opinion, he's tanking.
My concern about the Bucks tanking is they always start too late in the season to have an effective tank year. if they want to tank, they should start from day 1, not 1 february.
as far as attendance goes, do you honestly think people are going to come to watch gadz start at center? we're screwed either way.

MajorDad, they haven't been showing up to see the Bucks as it is. Dealing RJ won't make a dent in the attendance.
