Basketball counterparts' run for title gives young Hawks plenty of pointers

Hockey tradition being what it is, it would be awfully tough for Nicklas Lidstrom and Chris Osgood to channel their inner Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer and skulk off the ice without shaking hands should the Blackhawks engineer a Western Conference finals upset.
Then again, the Bad Boy-era Pistons were pouting about losing three straight years of playoff dominance over the Bulls, not to mention their right to defend back-to-back NBA titles, when they were swept out of the 1991 Eastern Conference finals.
Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews aren't Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. And there's no telling if the Hawks will have to endure the painful lessons the Bulls did in losing the 1988 conference semifinals and 1989 and 1990 conference finals to the Pistons before breaking through.
But the Bulls did learn some universal lessons that might behoove the Hawks if they want to end another Detroit championship reign...
