I haven't posted here in a while. Kind of miss you boys but after 12 years of rebuilding, I have decided its not important to follow this years team. So I haven't, at least not with the same gusto. Let's face it. This team is not built to win now, its built to rebuild (again) in the offseason or at the trade deadline. So where's the rooting interest? Noah and Rose's growth? I've seen that. Williams, Crawford, Chandler, Curry, Gordon, Hinrich, the list goes on ad infitum.
I've played hockey since I was in Kindergarten. Played High School at LFA and managed to make it through a year of D-1 at Madison. I've been coaching youth hockey since 92, head coach of my son's team for the last five years.
The Bulls stole my love of the Hawks from the Jordan years until (regrettably) the death of Bill Wirtz. But now, with their youth and dominance, the Hawks are can't miss TV for me while the Bulls are treading in a sea of endless mediocrity and rebuilding.
I guess I have traded one addiction for another, more gratifying one. I'd like to have two, but I have lost faith in John Paxson, or Gar Foreman or whoever is making personnel decisions. I have to qualify that, however, by saying that its probably harder to win in the NBA than any other team sport because the game is more dominated by superstars than any other. The Bulls had theirs and won their championships. Haven't had one since.
Hawks have 4 legitimate stars. Hope they find a goalie.

Re: The Blackhawks have stolen my Bulls love
I dont blame you for loving the hawks right now, they are pretty exciting to watch. I was never a big hawks fan or hockey fan for that matter, but now I've been catching games whenever I can.
However, I will always be a huge Bulls fan. Much like Cubs fans you never know what to expect from your team or when your team will win that next championship. But you follow them in the good and the bad, and when that next 'ship comes, it makes all the waiting worth it.

Watching the Bulls to see Rose/Noah/Deng improve, which they have greatly this season.

Re: The Blackhawks have stolen my Bulls love
Good Post...I feel ya too. The Blackhawks are winning and have captured the citys attention again. w/ a solid lineup of young talented players, and a stearn coach who demands the best out of his players. Hockey has a new life in the Windy City again.
There in lies the problem...It's hockey. Until hockey becomes easy on the eyes to watch, I just can't sit thru a whole game to see how exciting the game is. HDTV has helped some, but if it's a choice bet. watching the Blackhawks, or a Mavericks/Warriors game I find myself tuneing into basketball. Even if it's bet 2 yawner teams.
It's really getting hard to stomach another young unsuccessful rebuilding team put on the court by the Bulls, but I've been watching this team for so long, I just can't quit.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.
As desperate as the NHL is for attention, I'm sure they're grateful. Tell them, not people that don't care at all.

While I agree with your point I would rather comment on your avatar, the Gentleman album cover was simply awesome. Just so perfectly dark that is and quite fitting to that album. I miss the Whigs although I don't dislike the Twilight Singers or the Gutter Twin projects at all the Afghan Whigs were the best use of Dulli's talent.

Re: The Blackhawks have stolen my Bulls love
The thing about the BlackHawks in Chicago, is that they are viral.
They make tons of public appearances, do cool random stuff for the city like this. Versteeg and Ladd go to Palace Grill which is right by the United Center, chat up with the people there, and make an announcement that everyone currently eating in there, has their meal paid for, then actually serve people their food, sign autographs, and take pictures. You don't really see the Bears, Bulls, Cubs, or Sox do stuff like this all the time.

I think they honestly can do stuff like that, because its "hockey". They get paid a lot of money, but a lot of these guys aren't getting absurd pay checks going by professional sports standards in the United States. They're still grounded, in a grass roots kind of mentality.
They have arguably the most talented young roster in the NHL, tons of young personality to back up their talent(Some pranksters on the team like Byfuglien, Burrish, and Versteeg), and even if we did have to trade a couple of players, there's a wave of good/great prospects coming up through the rankings. The Blackhawks have tons of draft picks in this upcoming draft so our prospect bullpen will become even deeper and more competitive.
Even if you don't like Hockey you've heard of the Blackhawks, since the team has been revived.

After 15 years of marriage, the theme of the album has been striking a resonant chord with me recently. More "My Curse" and "What Jail is Like" than "Debonair".

I still somehow watch Bulls games over Blackhawks games but I will not be attending any Bulls games this season. Why support a mediocre organization?

You DO realize you can watch both right?
