18 years old. From what I'm hearing, it's a head scratcher.

Scouts said of Hayes;

http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/news/story?id=5323476

The same [NHL] scout, who thinks both will go off the board Friday night, had equally glowing praise for Hayes: "He has natural gifts you just can't teach. His head and mind are on another level. He's got the best puck skill and imagination with the puck that I've seen in the area in 20 years. One of the best things about Kevin is his passion for the game.

"Midnight, you call him and ask if he wants to play some shinny, he'd be there. That's just love for the game. A lot of kids don't have that."

The late part of that 1st round went anything, but according to plan. A dozen odd teams passed up on Etem, McFarland, and Pickard. I trust them enough that they believe they got the guy they wanted. In any case the 2nd round is gonna be huge for the Hawks, with them owning 1/6th of the 2nd round by themselves(5 draft selections).

He should be a solid contributer in a couple of seasons.
