NEW 5 ROUND MOCK / HAWKS COACHING SEARCH

Post#1 » by GRADEN » Tue Jun 21, 2022 4:06 pm

Some updates surfacing on the Hawks coaching thoughts:

Luke Richardson interviews, Ryan Huska preferred?

Brad Shaw, Derek King still being considered?

Seems like it’s (in order) Huska, Richardson, King, Shaw if we had to guess.

My latest mock:

I did 5 rounds as I feel that’s the true worth. Maybe 0.1% of the time will you get a legit NHL mainstay from rounds 6 and 7.

Again my thoughts are that picks 13-52ish are really interchangeable in my view. I could easily see an early 2nd round pick being better than some picks in the teens or 20s. Picks 53-120 are also pretty similar. I know in some mocks people have a guy going 55 where I have 115 and I have a guy in the 60s that they have at 130. Neither of us is wrong.

Wright, Cooley, Slafkovsky all considered with #1
Jiricek, Savoie, Kemell, Nemec all to follow
Gauthier, Mintyukov, Lekkerimaki, Korchinski, Geekie likely next

I have just 2 trades as I think they would be “likely” but impossible to predict

Couple of things:

If I were the devils I’d much prefer to trade Holtz over Mercer…. I know Holtz has a lot of pro experience and was one of the best AHL players at over a pt per game but Mercer is already an NHL top 6 and is tough to play against.

Secondly I think NJD want to stay inside the top 7 in order to get Jiricek or Nemec. That means CBJ / PHI / OTT picks

OTT wants to move up and has the assets and picks galore to do it

At 7 they likely could still get 1 of them… unless Nemec goes 4 and Jiricek goes 5 which could happen

What if we sweeten it with Murphy?? That could solve things for them.

2 / Holtz / Bernier / 2023 1st for Cat / Murphy?

Also some interesting info on Nemec…. I’m not a huge Nemec guy as I see a one dimensional player in that ceiling Dougie Hamilton floor Gustafson type of D…. However some teams that are looking for a PP qb may value him more than a Jiricek (far superior player) and thus May overdraft him.

To me you don’t take him top 6-7 at all but we will see… sea / phi may just say this is what we need

Hearing Yotes will be themselves again and will take Nemec or Gauthier at 3 over Cooley or Slafkovsky.

Typical Yotes

They should just trade 3 and 32 to Columbus for 6 and 12.

Both teams would love that
