Well, uh, not really what I was expecting from these two. What a crazy game.
Niemi's worst game in the playoffs, bar none. Out of position most of the night. Luckily, Leighton wasn't good either. I thought Pronger was the best Flyer on the ice, completely negated Byfuglien. Best Hawk? Kopecky was great, Brouwer as well. Dave Bolland was terrific, not just offensively but defensively. Philly's top line was a combined -7 (Carter and Richards -2, Gagne -3). Hossa might have had his most solid game of the playoffs. And I was fine with the officiating in Game 1 against San Jose, but I was not in this one. I saw four missed calls on the Hawks, at least. That being said I was fine with the penalties called against them, but they couldn't buy a penalty tonight.
Game 2 is not going to be nearly as chaotic as this one, I can say that with an almost certainty.

Thought the game went about as bad for the Hawks as it could. 4-zip on power plays, blown officiating calls, refs/linesmen getting in the way, Toews,Kane & Buf line-9, fluky/bad bounce goals for Philly, stupid turnovers (11?) and just simple poor play by the Hawks (passing to wingers not there, defensemen not connecting, slow back checking and once I saw three Hawks converge on one Flyer in the corner as he was passing the puck out of his own zone).
Philly gets credit for many times being in the right place at the right time and putting pressure on the Hawks defense with good forechecking; also seeming to find a lot of open ice at times with their passing.
Great to get the first win. 1-0

I guess the Flyers announced that Michael Leighton will be in goal tomorrow. This is good news. As I've said, Leighton was overrated coming into the finals playing the 14th, 15th, and 16th best offenses in the playoffs. Blackhawks are 3rd.
While he was out of position for the Kopecky goal, I thought Boucher outplayed Leighton.

If Ladd is good to go tomorrow, who gets scratched? The options are probably Eager, Kopecky, and Burish. I'd have to go with Eager out of that list.

You have to keep Kopecky after the game he had last night. Eager and Burish...eh, flip a coin
