As I'm sure most of you are aware, Duncan Keith has been suspended for 5 games for his elbow to the head of Daniel Sedin in the game against Vancouver. Now I agree that a suspension was in order given how obvious the offence was, but I just read some of the comments from Vancouver fans on the NHL.com site about the incident and it left me shaking my head. Sedin hit Keith earlier in the game, and apparently that was fine. Keith then retaliated, which apparently was no justification for what he did. However, when the Canucks players spent the rest of the game trying to retaliate against Keith and kept getting penalties as a result, apparently that was the refs picking on them. I mean seriously, if it's not ok for Keith to hit Sedin in retaliation, then why do these Canucks fans seem to think that it was perfectly acceptable for their players to hit Keith in retaliation?
Honestly, it just seems to me like more whining from Vancouver fans after another loss in which it was everyone else's fault but theirs. No wonder their fans have the reputation around the league for being the biggest complainers and excuse-makers.
