Hawks ship Leddy and Simpson to NYI for 3 prospects

There was a salary cap deadline on Tuesday.... It was between Kruger, Oduya, and Leddy and getting 3 highly touted and drafted guys in return is a pretty decent haul IMO. Pokka is the prize and projects well within our system starting with 15-16 and beyond.

Leddy is one of the better skaters in the NHL but his speed makes him a little undisciplined in our scheme. Our offense only works if all 5 play to this and thus I believe this made him expendable. For instance, taking weak side slap that on 11 regular season occasions and 3 playoff shots did his misses see the opposition get the rebound PAST our blue. This was for 3/14 goals.... Yes I'm a hockey nut but it drove me crazy so I kept track. The coaches teach against this so I knew his time was limited despite his immense talent.

No matter what the reason, he's gone now. I know it will be a drop-off in production in the short term but I'm really looking forward to seeing what TVR will do, assuming he gets first crack at the open spot on the third pairing. How do you guys think he'll do? I hope he works out, but I'm wondering if we'll see Clendenning, Johns or someone else if he struggles early?

Yea the article writer for piece says johns but u know I just don't know... I get a ekkkk barker vibe of someone that is maybe above average in a lot of stuff but with maybe no"plus" traits... Yea TvR looks good, solid player and should get first crack at it. I wish Press was older, he'd be perfect.

Leddy will have a nice 40pt season for the Isles and should solidify a top 4 pairing with them

FYI.... Brennan was one of the last cuts so I'd guess TvR, Brennan, and then Clendining in order of whom they give the opp
