Game 5: Philly in transition from ground to air

Post#1 » by GRADEN » Mon Oct 20, 2014 4:01 pm

They are missing some continuity for sure but the talent is there. The real question is in net as they may only have 2 career backups helping a team that needs a little glue at times. This team will be good, but likely not this season. Hawks 3-2

I hope we can manage more than a 3 spot against that D and goaltending. I say the Hawks have an outburst of offense tomorrow and score 5 goals and win 5-3. But both of Philly's goalies have been sieves.

Hard to score that many.... Possible for sure though. Maybe they'll enter the McDavid sweepstakes.... And no I don't think a hand full of games isn't enough evaluation for bR... He doesn't fit mainly bc he is set in his play at 34 and therefore was never a fit...... We do best growing our own now.... We need 25 and under additions to mold.... Even ovi wouldnt fit here, I'd rather have say Jonathan drouin at 18/19 then ovi..... Very few fit what we do once they've established what they are.... Maybe say Alex pietrangelo would fit :)... He is a Seabrook type

Btw.... Damn TJ Brodie got locked up in Calgary... Nice Dman. Also blues goaltenders playing well.... Backup jake Allen looked real good after solid rookie year....I thought that'd be a weakness this season, maybe not. We get them in like 6-7 days I think.... They were my cup prediction last year

Just heard that Raanta is in goal for this game, and Crawford is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

My confidence level went down when I heard he was getting the start. I just never feel confident with Raanta in goal. I just remember his rough start last year and then some of those games in the spring were horrendous.

Total Domination. Congrats to Raanta for the SO. Great game by Saad, Kaner. Like the looks of Saad Richards and Bick.

Flyers are in a World of hurt. They have no speed, no skaters. no goaltending, although Mason kept it reasonable. Could have easily been 10-0. But, the entire game the Hawks looked a step faster everywhere.

9 out of 10 points to start the season. I'll take it!

Great win by the sound of it. Good for Raanta to start off his season with a dominating performance.

U know what.... Watch the game again.... Raanta, geez I may hear for this, did not play well. He played ok, but he gave up a ton of rebounds, did full 360 on board battles which made me scream at the tv, and got 2 bail outs on sure goals one on raffs empty net miss and the other by Seabrook playing goalie.... So give him an attaboy but u know what he simply had the puck bounce right 30/30 times tonight. He did not play good.... We should have won 4-2 or 4-3 no doubt about it.

On positives.... In limited ice time I thought the bicks - Richards duo was good tonight but my gut says its bc the flyers don't have the speed....

Kane played the Toews role a lot as the cleanup guy... Nice to see him keep adding to already well rounded game.

Roz in small bursts looked young in his skates... Encouraging bc we will need him.

Overall I said 3 u said 5 and it was 4 lol. Figures... Good win, really tough games ahead now though
