...and lose Schneider

Post#1 » by ajaX82 » Mon Jul 2, 2007 12:31 am

ESPN - For the third straight offseason, the Anaheim Ducks have locked up a big defenseman.

The defending Stanley Cup champions signed unrestricted free agent Mathieu Schneider to a two-year deal worth $11.25 million.

Schneider, 38, spent the past four seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and had 11 goals and 41 assists and averaged 23:35 in ice time over 68 goals in 2006-07.

Hate to lose em, hes been great during his time here, but i will gladly trade Brian for him.

What the hell is going on with this team? First we lose Schneider and now Bertuzzi! Are we planning on letting our entire roster walk?

Schneider hurts but Bert didn't do anything really. He was a lackluster and just not worth signing.

I would have loved to keep Schneider and sign a key free agent but that wouldn't happen.

No he's not MAS. Schneider is an amazing player and Rafalski is overrated big time. But none the less you don't lose much with the downgrade of Schneider to Rafalski. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Umm not really Adam is right. Schneider = lucky to be on a great offense team. Watch him with the Ducks and no Neidmeyder (sp) he will half 2/3's or less of what he had in Detroit.

Rafalski is a great defensemen that can play either with Lidstrom or on the 2nd unit. I would love to see how these 2 (Nik and Ralphy) are going to match up.

Guy got offered too much, team opted not to pay him. This team is still good, but desperately needs to rely on younger/newer players. Can't keep recycling 35+ yr olds.

OK, so we've lost Schneider and Bertuzzi. Is there any new info on Markov and Calder?

If they see them, I asked the legal character ... maybe I will end back

up with me ... or someone ... ... things happen ..

I would have loved to keep Schneider and sign a key free agent but that wouldn't happen.

Return to Detroit Red Wings
