Really sad to see Brodziak go. He was one of favorite Oilers and a solid 3 or fourth line grinder. Seems like we weren't interested in extending him.

Yeah, this was pretty much a dump. We were clearly more worried about salary than getting a good return for a guy who's a checking line player at most. Luckily, we have enough lower-end talent that we can plug someone else into the position without losing too much, although it'll be a shame to see Brodziak go.

Yeah, our entire team is built of 3rd or 4th line players so he was expendable. Hopefully this means we're going to try and add some top end forwards to our team.

I don't like this trade for us. We do have a lot of 3rd or 4th line players but Brodziak is the guy that we should have kept out of all of them. He was a good face-off guy (which we need) and he is a pretty good penalty killer (which is something else that we need). So two of our holes just got bigger and we traded away a player that could cheaply help with those holes.
