According to Rich Hammond at the Los Angeles Daily News, Anze Kopitar has signed a seven year extention for $47.6 million. Kopitar had one year remaining on his current contract, so that ensures Anze will remain a King for another 8 seasons until he is 29 years old. Kopitar's seven year contract is the second longest made by the Kings, with Wayne Gretzk'y eight year deal in 1988 being the longest. This deal was announced just the morning before the Kings begin their 2008-09 season with a home-and-home series against Rob Blake and the San Jose Sharks.
