NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Camp opens in September

Is it like Maggie May late September  . I actually saw the wolves scrimmage during camp once when they came to St. Johns. That was fun.

AJ Lawson. Your welcome.

A new two way signing is a new signing. It is looking at stats and learning about the guy. This is as good as it gets till the next/final free agent signing. savor the morsel.

So we replaced Vanderbilt with Slo Mo, Beasley with Forbes, Beverly with Rivers. While MCD and Nowell have another year of Experience. We literally gave up nothing while gaining Gobert. This trade gets better and better. Giving up Late round draft picks for Gobert is a complete steal. We will be running for the title for the next 5 years. While the Jazz falls into who the Wolves was for the next 5.

I disagree slightly. We replaced Beverly (our defensive anchor,) with Gobert. We replaced Beasley mostly with Nowell (Forbes is unlikely to be in the rotation,) with some of the spot shooting with Forbes as needed. I agree with Slomo for V8 and agree with the rest. I dislike the Austin Rivers move, his advanced stats don’t support him being an elite defender and his skill set is redundant. We badly needed a defensive PG with floor general skills, instead we signed a SG with average defense and a history of inconsistent play.

I went with the players we lost vs the players we gained. I also included MCD and Nowell for gaining another of experience and having more of an expanding role. Another reason why this trade was great because we didn't have to give up either of them. Although I would've preferred Rondo maybe he refused for a chance with a larger market team who knows. Rivers may get some DNP with this lineup because of how deep this team is.

I get that. I think this time next year we might see Minott become the backup SF and have 48 minutes of excellent 3 and D small forward play. I know Minott will still be rough around the edges, but I do see the energy level and defensive instincts to be special. Prince as either a 3rd string or trade bait is also nice.

If I was designing the rotation it would be 9 man. Nowell would play both PG and SG in a 3 man rotation with Dlo and Ant, with JMAC as the 10th man in case of foul trouble or injury. MCD and Prince would eat all 48 SF minutes with Ant as 3rd string and Nowell and JMAC being used to fill in the gaps. KAT and Rudy would start and finish halves together but would also play while the other sits. KA would be assigned to KAT and Naz assigned to Gobert in rotation 2A and 2B style. Rivers, Forbes, and whoever we sign as an insurance big would be 3 string only. Minott, Moore, Lawson, and Knight would be primarily in Iowa, and that is 17. I sincerely hope Rivers and Forbes do not cut into Nowell’s minutes.

As deep as we are (and we may be the deepest in the league), I think the only reserves who are guaranteed minutes on a nightly basis are Kyle Anderson, Jaylen Nowell and Taurean Prince. From there, Finch will pick and choose who plays based on what the team needs on that given night.

JMAC is a Finch favorite, and I think that will play a role early on. It might be that JMAC plays himself out of the rotation again (last season he started the year unplayable,) but I do think it is his spot to lose.

Starting Naz at the PF also seems to hint that Naz and Rudy might spend time on the floor together. It is too early to tell for certain, (could just be Finch testing the waters.) But, it seems likely that Finch will try to keep Naz active both for engagement and trade purposes if he can.

Edit to add: If Nowell plays well for 10-20 games, I could see him get placed into both bench rotations. He proved he can play with Ant in the Miami game. It would push out JMAC, and it would suppress Forbes, but I could see Nowell getting 25-30 minutes per game.

McLaughlin is definitely the ninth who would be next man up, but Finch isn't tied to having one of Russell or McLaughlin always on the court. And I think Reid's inclusion in the starting lineup had more to do with Towns missing the game than a grand plan for the season.
