Post Game Thoughts. Clippers.
I have not done one of these for a while.
Are NBA refs held to standard reviews? The team got a bit hosed on some calls tonight.
The team must have gotten blasted by Finch as it looked pretty good defensively.
Gobert and Reid look like they mesh pretty well. Better than Towns and Gobert. At least for the time being. Reid just plays his normal role while Towns looks like he wants to incorporate Gobert into his game.
Nowell sucks. Anybody should take his minutes. He will be playing in Europe soon.
Wendell looked pretty good.
Slo-mo looks pretty good as a PG. He should be used with a more offensive starting lineup.
McDaniels looked decent on D, but, unless he is well ahead on the break, he shouldn't attempt any fastbreaks by himself.

Well, it wasn't the reaming I was expecting... I suppose that's an upside.

It felt like they were in it until the 4th.

Re: Post Game Thoughts. Clippers.
My thoughts are injuries suck, Nowell thinks he's the only reliable scorer whenever he's on the court and refuses to pass, he might get hot during a game but most of the time it sucks the energy out of the ball.
My other thought is that i'd love to see Minott get some minutes just for some energy & I like how much of a team player Wendell is on offense and he really tries on the defensive end.
Where is the confident Austin Rivers? He always hesitates on catch and shoot oppurtunities, he loves doing that jab fake going right instead of just pulling up for open 3s.
We missed DLO and his play making & scoring. Get well soon to him and KAT

I had not written this yet, but Nathan Knight has the most punchable face in the NBA. You kinda want to punch that guy.

I’m ready to give the keys to the backup 4 spot to Knight or Minott. I’ve seen enough. The Wolves need more size and energy and they both give you that.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Prince and Jmac are big losses, we need them back ASAP. Team needs to find better defenders and physical players in the future.

I would give my thoughts, but couldn't stay awake past halfway through the second quarter. They looked ok the first quarter and a half. I hate west coast games...

Considering the injuries i think we played alright. Ant made some mistakes, but I don't consider him to potentially be elite at this point. I hope that we can keep Naz.

Tell me more about Moore. I have counted two steals and one excellent defensive possession against Jackson.

Re: Post Game Thoughts. Clippers.
I had concerns about the shooting before the season started. I know we were a top offense last year and Pat Bev and Vando were not scorers but still Bev could hit a three and I always felt people underappreciated what Beasley's job was. The reason Beaslsey got paid like he did is because he has a very tough specialist job and he's good at it. Its very hard to get limited minutes off the bench and be expected to jack a ton of threes at a high clip and hit a good percentage.
Thos players are always streaky because the nature of the job is very very tough. You don't get 36 minutes to wok yourself up all game. You don't get a ton of plays that come to you without being forced, you have to come in and produce, hitting a very long shot time and time again and those guys go on massive cold streaks.
That said, when you are good, you do get hot at times and when you are hitting it totally boost the offense. We would kill for a Beasley right now. Lets hope KAT comes back with his 3 pt shot on point in a month, that will help a lot.

Just watched the game. Excellent for rookie defensive game: Moore doesn't foul, moves feet, quick hands. He stayed too far in the paint off Kennard - obvious mistake against NBA sniper. Jackson scored easily once against Moore, but overall good defensive game.
In offense he was too shy: there was a moment when he passed the ball even without looking at the rim and Anderson said him that. Moore at least should be ready to catch and shoot, ask for the ball when he is open in corners. We don't have any other 3pt shooters. This is his chance.
Also I hope MCD gains 10-15 lbs and emulates Kawai's mid range game, especially footwork. Also his lack of muscles was evident against big ballhandlers today.
Overall I really liked our defense in first three quarters: we stayed connected, rotated, even Gobert contested corner threes well. But turnovers and 50/50 rebounds killed us.

In the absence of KAT, I am really not a fan of starting both Gobert and Anderson together...spacing becomes even worse with both of them on court.

Unfortunately the only way to have size is by starting SloMo. He’s also a major boost to the offense as he’s probably the second best “PG” on the roster behind McLaughlin. If you bench him in these injury games you’re either looking at 2 guards, Ant, and Jaden or an unknown like Knight or Minott taking the starting spot. For a team that’s struggled rebounding option one isn’t it and for a team that’s struggled finding their offense option two probably isn’t it either.

Who else would you even start?
Nowell is needed off the bench (and is too inconsistent anyway)
Reid sucks with Gobert
Knight and the rest of the end of bench guys aren’t starter calibre.
Rivers is already starting and sucks anyway.
Forbes sucks.
Everyone else is injured.

I am done with Gobert+Reid combo. They dont rebound well, they dont score well, they dont defend well. I am wondering whether it is time to get either physical PF like Kleber. At this point I am okay to give Knight a try.
One thing I was right about Nowell is that he is probably our second best scorer at rim. As driver he is quick, decisive, athletic. He has good footwork and good touch around the rim. But he regressed as long/mid range shooter and passer. I think he still can be efficient 20 ppg scorer in NBA like Jordan Clarkson.

Yes, we need a shooter badly. Agree about shooters getting hot and cold. But I would not kill for Beasley from 1st half of last season. 38% from field, 34.5 from 3pt, 12.5 PPG. I would not kill for Beasley from playoff of last season. 43% from field, 32% from 3pt, 8.5 PPG. And I am surely dont miss all his news from jail.
I also wonder if being top 5 team in shooting 3pt attempts is a must for this roster to be successful. I mean NOP are 29th in 3PA, CLE 24th, sure they are better than us in making shots, sure CLE play slowest pace in NBA, NOP are 12th. But maybe it is natural for teams with oversized frontcourt to rely more on scoring in the paint. Can we make so much pressure at rim, so it will open more open 3s opportunities? Plays like Spain PnR etc? I mean sure, it helps when you have a shooter such as AJ Griffin, Huerter, Beasley who can run use multiple screens and have this gravity as shooter.

Another flaw we have is we are all finese and not physical. We don't attack the paint outside of KAT and some Ant drives. We don't get free throws, we don't rack up fouls on other teams. So if you can't shoot, you better be killing teams in side and we aren't doing that. Don't have the players or style for that. (Well you would think with two centers we could do a lot better there, at least paint scoring).
