Game 64: Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Clippers

It looks like Edwards reverted back to some old habits: he doesn't box out and he regularly get caught sleeping as offball defender. He could easily average 7-8 rpg just by showing a bit effort as defensive rebounder. I wonder if opponents are instructed to attack Edwards on offensive glass.

He also was lazy to get back in transition defense at least in one possession which lead to easy 2pts for LAC.

Another thing is how he constantly moves without the ball, makes him self available for kick out pass. It was funny when Edwards as usual was standing still passively on perimeter waiting for pass while Conley was moving around, at some point there was a kick out pass to Edwards, but Conley kind of intercepted the ball and immediately made extra pass.

Conley is so active, decisive. He moves quickly, his release is quick, he passes quick, he fights for 50/50 balls. It is such a drastic difference between him and DLo. Although I wish he makes all these floaters.

So many people don't see this because all they do is look at the box score and see how many points a player scored. Conley is a better basketball player than DLO even at 35 years old...and I don't think it is particularly close. Even though he has problems staying in front of the quicker PG's now, he is still infinitely better than DLO defensively. He moves the ball much better...I just wish he wouldn't be so reluctant to shoot his open 3-pointers. As they play more together, he will get better and better. They need to beat the Lakers Friday night and I think they should. It is just that it is the type of game that they have been losing all year. With LBJ out for at least two weeks now the Lakers should be just about done. We need to finish as the 7th seed or better though. If we lose two home play-in games in a row as the 7th seed we don't deserve to make the playoffs.

Lakers are one game out of 10. Beating them Friday would keep us ahead of them in whatever seeding. I think they still can make it without LBJ for 2 weeks. They still have DLo, Vanderbilt (steal of the trade deadline according to national media) and Beasley. So, Friday's game is critical.
