Just Rewatched the game & watched the replays on every foul called on us guarding Embiid - they were all legitimate calls, he goes the line a lot but he gets fouled a lot. He’s so big and strong along with being smooth it’s just impossible to stop him.

I never expected us to beat Philly. especially when Doc was at one of our games. I've never seen an active couch attend another team's game before.

Seriously, the Refs get the calls right most of the times. I don't watch many 76ers games but had seen Embiid rolling on floor for no reason and actually rolled over Harris' leg. Harden had moves that especially take advantage of how fouls are called for years. One reason his numbers were down last year is NBA stop giving him that call (opinion). I think Embiid is right on that edge, he doesn't fade away but takes it toward the defender, then his strength and smoothness takes over.

FWIW, the night before us, Embiid had 19 FTAs

Truth hurts.

I am not seeing it as Gobert can't guard Embiid. I thought Gobert did a decent job but we need to mix it up against a great player like Embiid. Defense will not win every battle in the NBA unless you double team. I think if Gobert can D out to the corner perimeter is a good thing. He can come it to provide rebounding help and block shots from the weak side. Ironically, that was what we want Towns to do and he couldn't handle it. Did Finch said anything about the Gobert D in his post game show?

If you want the Truth - see my post on the Finch thread :D don't want to repost here :D

I wonder if I watched the same game as some posters:

1) Gobert did good job at defending Embiid: blocked a shot, stole the ball, forced turnover, did not foul much. But Embiid went 4-4 from 3pt, which is always a problem when we try to defend in drop coverage. Finch tried Anderson, Reid, but no one could stop Embiid. Remember we speak about MVP candidate here

2) MIN hit 30% from 3pt, PHI hit 60% from 3pt. I really like ball movement from our bench unit but McLaughlin, MCD, TP NAW, Reid, KA, Rivers had multiple empty possessions. Edwards was better at creating shots, but he did little to involve teammates. As much as I am disappointed in Nowell, I can see why Finch might be willing to give him minutes.

3) PHI played their version of smallball without Embiid, in theory our bench unit could give us some good minutes, but it did not happen. Maybe Finch should have tried Garza when Gobert and Embiid were sitting.

Yes. Jonny K’s description on his pod matched my thoughts. He said that the Wolves effort looked good on both ends of the court, but sometimes open shots aren’t dropping. Ant said the same thing. Embiid was magnificent. The Wolves have looked much worse in other losses, and even some of their wins. Maybe if Ant still thinks about passing, even when he isn’t doubled and gets a match up he likes, the rhythm will help others make more shots. But overall, this was a “can’t win them all” night to me.

Agreed. Embiid made 13 baskets. 9 of them were from mid range or 3. Those are exactly the shots you want him taking - if he's hitting those, there is nothing you can do. He was also under .500 (4/7) at the rim.
