It used to work well on all my devices for many years as well. However, since yesterday all those annoying ads circumvent any ad blocker I use on my computer.

You shouldn’t have to use an adblocker to use a website. It can have ads that aren’t this bad, cause the site to constantly reload, etc. There are plenty of great websites that aren’t even 10% the nuisance this one is.

Money > all.

It would be one thing if it were ads from reputable companies selling actual goods or services, but it's "ads" from shady entities that are trying to scam people.
Meaning this site is taking money from scammers.

I get that it's probably not intentional,
but it's been happening more often lately.

I can't even surf this site on my desktop without it looking like I am surfing for porn to my wife and kid.
And I'm using a browser that blocks damn near everything.
Clean this $%^& up or I can find a new place to post.

Yeah, I barely use this site anymore because the UX is a complete joke.

Ads generally are catered to a person's search history through the use of "targeted ads". So if you want the ads to clean up, I might suggest cleaning up the search history for you, your wife and kid.

FYI the ads I'm seeing have zero relevance to my search history.

Jewelry? I haven't bought jewelry since a wedding ring about a decade ago. Credit cards? Been even longer since I opened a credit card. Cars? Also been five years since I purchased a car, and I hate Cadillacs! ;)

That's reassuring to hear. Just figured I'd mention it as a possibility. The ads I've seen lately aren't direct ties to my search history, but they are not far off.

I know it wasn't meant as an insult but I found that reply to me INCREDIBLY insulting Klomp.
Nothing I saw among those pop up ads had ANY relevance whatsoever to our search history.
Just the scattershot variety of scam ads you would expect from a scam site and not a place I've been visiting for 17 years now.
Find a better adserver service.

I find the "personalized ads" crap they are allowed to do in this country and the unchecked ability of pretty much everyone you interact with to mine your personal data, both online and in person, frighteningly orwellian and a sign of the end of civilization.
Pretty soon you are gonna get cancer drug ads before you even know you have it.

Settings>apps> safari … make sure block pop ups is toggled on

If that doesn’t work
Settings>apps> safari>advanced> block all cookies
The second one definitely works, but it forces you to login everytime you come back on the site
