I think if our expiring contracts can fetch us a great player next to big Al you do it. I'd even add some of stockpiled first rounders.

That being said I wouldn't want to waste these expiring contracts on over the hill past their glory days players.

exactly. As great as Camby sounds it makes no sense with him going downhill before we would be contending. 27 at the most for a player brought in.

'd love to get Emeka from the bobcats but dont see a reason for them to do it. Unless he says he wont resign there. I"d take him at or around Theo's salary for 5 years

But what would the incentive for the bobcats be? I think we have 2 options if we want to deal his contract.

1.) Jump in a 3 way and use the asset of Ratliff or doleac to push one of the potential big deals. Like kidd for example. Likely kidd wants to go to a contender so those teams do not have the players needed to move. Kidd is at the same stage as AI so he will not get a stud like Al in return, but an ending contract and some late picks would work.

2.) Combine the ratliff contract with the boston pick for next year (or Mia if we can trade it and the guy is good enough) with one of the 2nd this year for a disgrunted younger player. Or a player that is not fitting. Emeka is the token example.

I wish the author had spent more time on the financial situation of the Wolves.

Walker is an "awful" deal? Is he going to say the same thing in 4 months, when he'll be a $9 mil expiring? There's no talk at all about how critical the lux will be, or the decision MIN needs to make on bringing back its restricted free agents, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, and Craig Smith. Its nice to hear so much about Ratliff, but that is not the important part of the wolves financial situation.

I really would be ok with Emeka, but I am not sure he would be happy here either. He is a good defensive presence, but I can't be sure he'd like never touching the ball down low on O. It seems like this offense runs through Al and no and all other have to play off of him. Well Emeka is a down low player as well, not as good, but can't roam to the 3 point line like Gomes. I'm not sure he'd like his role here.

That's why I think trading for another high first is ideal. We should go for a Thabeet or a Hibbert, someone who can come in and accept the second fiddle offensively. I am making assumptions about Emeka, but the guy was a #1, so I'm sure he's not ready to play second fiddle quite yet. Someone like Hibbert or Thabeet has to as a rookie. P.S. I am a big fan of Thabeet's D, and I think he would be perfect next to Al. The trade I would make would be to aquire a pick.
"Dude, all I am saying is we already have a starting RB, his name is Chester Taylor. Besides AP isn't that good anyways. I hope we draft McFadden." --Me after he broke the record.

How about http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profile ... mpson.html http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/pr ... erId=23138
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jas ... 594/stats/
He is 21, a senior

nbadraft.net has him going 21st overall

37th in the draft express mock draft (Not based on team needs)
not in the top 60 on college hoops net mock draft

Or do we strictly only want 7+ footers or is 6-10/6-11 adequate? We obviously don't want a undersized center.

There are some players we could use who aren't on mock drafts.

http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasket ... age/566585

Don't forget about guys that may join the draft after the year ends. We can always hope the player we need will declare for the draft early or will be declaring after their senior year :p

(Under the new draft regulation, players are required to be one year out of high school and at least 19 to enter the NBA draft.)

For us to trade Ratliff, it would have to be one heck of a deal. If we're looking at getting into 3 way to facilitate I'd rather use Doleac, Green, and Smith (if it really came to that).

In the offseason if guys like Emeka and others aren't going to re-sign then we can do a sign and trade and give them the expirings of Buckner and/or Walker as part of the deal.

the only way i trade ratliff is if the deal would still be fair if we included gomes/telfair/smith/green.

Cause from what i have read that is essentially what will happen because we wouldnt be able to afford these guys. We might be able to sign one or two, but from my perspective we need to keep ratliff, so that we can sign a couple of these guys.

We dont need a franchise player to come in here and stifle the growth of our young guys. Franchise PG/SG? what happens with foye/mccants/brewer Franchise SF? what happens to brewer? Franchise Center? they dont exist with our assets.

Dalembert is not enough, I would not trade ratliff/gomes/telfair/smith for dalembert.

We need to not mess this up right now we have a good plan in place, take your lumps now and get ready for the future. I think we have to be patient, we cant start taking on big contracts again, or else we will be stuck again. Take the money from ratliff sign telfair and gomes, and move on from there.
