I think it's too soon to give up on Shad, unless it's part of a very good deal.

I won't say it's not a possibility though. Telfair's shown he deserves minutes at PG. Foye will likely split time between PG/SG. In order to get Brewer out there he's going to combo at SG/SF. Gomes has been our 2nd best player and he's more of a natural SF. Plus you have Jaric as a combo 1-3. So you could say we have a glut, even though Shad is the most natural SG on the team. I'm not saying they should, but I can see some of the thinking behind it.

Shaddy is easily a top 10-15 3pt shooter in this league, top 10 % wise (It says he's number 29, but I mean c'mon, look at the 3pt% leaders; Renaldo Balkman?)

No way we give up on him, let's see what he and Foye can do in the back court.

I dont like shad's defense or his effort on the defensive end at all. And he's too careless with the basketball. My biggest fear is that he turns into a volume scorer. And finally he looks disinterested when he isnt scoring. I understand thats sort of his natural look, but it leads me to question his team-first qualities.

After that, I will say that i want to keep Mccants, i like him. BUt i dont consider him completely untouchable. A mid-first round isnt enough. I dont like trading proven prospects for unproven prospects. Shad is a proven prospect, we know what type of player he will be. He can score 20 points a night. But is that all he will provide? He might be able to get to 20 5 and 5.

But he really needs to improve his defense and decision making skills for me to guarantee him a starting spot.

Remember, i like mccants and i want him to stay, but in an effort to be objective, i think he has some things to prove before i annoint him or shooting guard for the next 10 years.

no way I'm trying to imply that mccants is untouchable. I just don't want to give him away for free because I doubt there are teams out there that would give us more than a lottery protected pick

Shad can do a good job on the defensive end when he is aggressive, but he has seemed to back up with the fouls he has been racking up early.

He is also becoming more than a scorer, he has made nice plays for his teammates and he has been getting 3-4 boards a game, his shooting percentages are respectable for a guard; 44% and 43% from 3 are good for a shooting guard.

I think his biggest problem defensively is getting so upset when he's whistled and arguing with the refs. I think if he just went about his business, he'd get the benefit of the doubt more often.

I do think he's done a better job being more of a complete player and could be very good for us.

I am intrigued to see some major minutes in the back court with Bassy, Foye, and Shad.

We need to come up with a nickname for Foye like "catfish" or something. Then we'd have the all-fish backcourt. :)

You know...with Brewer's dirty looking mustache he kinda does look like a catfish.
