It has begun:

Gasol 24 pts(10-15 fg), 12 reb, 4 assists.

Lakers win @NJ 105-90 and that is without Bynum and with Kobe scoring only 6 points (3-13 fg), 5 reb, 8 assists and 7 TOs

This trade is looking pretty good so far even though it's only been one game.

Does anyone else think the Phoenix/Miami SHaq talk is a reaction to the Lakers getting Gasol?

A Gasol/Bynum/Odom front court would own the Suns current roster.

But with Shaq, the Suns would also have a formidable frontline Amare/Shaq/Diaw.

Shaq would also then become the answer to Duncan, and Yao, and Oden next year.

At first I thought this was a terrible deal for Phoenix, but the more I think about it, the more I think it makes perfect sense for them.

I'm shocked that so many people on the trade board think the Suns would be making a mistake bringing in Shaq; I think it's perfect. Shaq's getting suffocated in Miami with no shooters to spread the offense. I think he'd be great on Phoenix. Marion+Banks is chump change to get him.
