This is only one iteration of this trade... many different combinations of Wolves players could be used to bring Richard Jefferson to the Twin Cities:

Minnesota Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -8.7 ppg, -4.8 rpg, and -6.4 apg.
Incoming Players
Richard Jefferson
6-7 SF from Arizona
23.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.8 apg in 38.7 minutes

Outgoing Players
Rashad McCants
6-4 SG from North Carolina
14.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.2 apg in 27.5 minutes
Sebastian Telfair
6-0 PG from Abraham Lincoln (HS)
9.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 6.0 apg in 32.2 minutes
Antoine Walker
6-9 PF from Kentucky
8.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.0 apg in 19.7 minutes

-------------------

Why for MN - Jefferson has a big contract, sure. But he's 28, a veteran of two NBA Finals and a true pro. IF the Nets were to make him available, he's the only part of their Big Three that makes sense for the Wolves... if it took sending Ratliff's expiring plus prospects, I would do it.

Plus, shrink's head would explode.

Why for NJ - Walker is an expiring next year, and Telfair and McCants are low-cost prospects. If Jersey can get better they will, but if they blow it up doesn't it make the most sense to trade Jefferson for a package like the one the Wolves can put together?
