Do Wolves have 2 chances at DRose?

Post#1 » by Krapinsky » Wed Apr 2, 2008 11:46 pm

Interesting scenario: What does Memphis do if it gets the #2 pick? Assuming Beasley is off the board do they trade down?

Two potential ways the Wolves could be involved:

(1) Rose for Wolves pick (est. #4) + 2008 Miami or Boston pick.

(2) Conley for Wolves pick (est #4)

Personally, I like option 1 much, much more. I'm not sure how much more, if at all, I like Conley over the rest of the PG crop that is out there, i.e. Augustin/Collison/Lawson. Plus this could give Memphis Rose/Mayo/Gay which would be ridiculous.

I'd assume 95% of you would not do option 2. Would you guys do option 1?

There is no chance of number 1 happening and I wouldn't do number 2, Conley hasn't shown anywhere near enough to me to offer a top 5 pick for him.

I think if Memphis gets the #2 pick and Beasley is off the board, they will take Rose and trade Conley. Not only is Rose the only other "elite" talent in this draft and a much better PG prospect then Conley, but he's already beloved in Memphis and would give them a huge PR boost (and they kind of need one after the Gasol fiasco).

I think there is a slight chance they might even take Rose if they get the #1 pick.

I don't know if I trade a top five pick for Conley. While I would move Foye to SG if we could get an elite PG prospect, I don't consider Conley elite. I think I'd rather take a big or Mayo and give Foye another year at the point.

I'd definitely do #1, though MEM probably woudn't. I'd do #2 if we had pick #5 or lower but I think I'd rather have Lopez or Mayo than Conley. MEM probably wouldn't do that either, I'm guessing.

We (Memphis) would take Rose and trade Conley and/or Lowry.

Rose is a much better prospect than Conley ,as others have said you take Rose and trade Conley.

Conley could be a decent starting PG , Rose could be a superstar.

If Memphis has a chance to draft D Rose with the second overall pick they will and will try to move Conley. I just don't see Conley worth the fourth overall pick I think that Minnesota would be better off with OJ.
