I thought this thread over on the trade board would be interesting to posters here, and something that might be fun to discuss:

The premise has been to poll people and do something of a Mock Draft, but specifically for TRADE VALUE. Being the best player has something to do with it, but age, contract, injury history, etc all play a part.
Right now, for the #9 spot, Al and our beloved KG are tied for the lead with seven votes each, so I thought I'd toss the question out to you for discussion:
I understand trade value is a completely relative term, but in your opinion, who has more trade value?
More Trade Value? Al or KG?

Yeah, it's got to be KG. When you take into account Al's reasonable K value it becomes more interesting though.
Just one year ago KG netted Big Al, Gomes, Telfair
, Green, and two first rounders + the value of Ratliff expiring contract.
Al's improved this year, but probably so has the awareness of KG's value to a team. Until AL Shows he's capable of leading a team to the playoffs, it's not even close.

Half of the league will want Jefferson because they are rebuilding and the other half want KG because they need a boost in the playoffs. Thats why all the good teams were giving up first round round draft picks for veteran players (for example, Lakers, Mavs, Celtics, SanAntonio) The Wolves wanted to rebuild and the Celtics wanted to compete.

You just hit the nail on the head.

I think it's similar to the old question, which would you rather have; $100,000 a day, or a penny doubled exponentially every day?
Depends on when you need the money.
KG is best for those that want to compete over the next 3-5 years.
AL is best for those that want to compete over the next 5-10 years.

Interesting question for someone like the Hornets.
We can take KG or Al, and trade either West or Al for a star 2, and be a dominant starting 5.
