Value Check aka NO/MN

Post#1 » by Winter Wonder » Wed May 21, 2008 6:37 pm

Saw in the trade forum an offer of McCants + Walker for ?

Tried a few scenarios, and finding a player we would like or combination of them for the same value around that price mark was difficult in the short time I worked on it. I did have an alternate thought though and wanted to gage value and what may or may not need to be added from either side.

Min: McCants for NO: Armstrong.

NO needs a shooting guard and have Chandler manning the middle.
Min needs a center and are possibly drafting Mayo for their SG.

This of interest? Value about equal? It is a big for a small, though the small is more established I would say. Not sure what Hilton Armstrong does for anyone and I would rather trade McCants for a pick 16 to 22 range and an expiring, but figured I would throw this out there.

I think this is a post-during draft issues. Simply because I think a center of Armstrong's value could fall into the early second. Ala Hibbert/R.Lopez or any of the other dozen late 1st Center prospects.

Attaching Walker's expiring with Shad+2nd rd or next year Bost pick is to get somsone with a bigger contract. Ala someone better than Armstrong.

Yup, I just had a hard time finding that player. Camby, though not sure they are interested in what we are offering and he seems a bit old for our overall design. Not seeing many other teams interested in trading there quality center for the cap relief SG prospect.

At least with keeping Walker, we gain the benefit of the expiring and balance our roster with McCants for Armstrong or whatever, but I get the idea.

Okafor was mentioned in the original trade, but with the wings and money they have invested there as well as their roster make up; I don't see them wanting to trade their big short of not being able to agree on contract terms.

What other big is out there that would possibly be aquired with this package?

Draft our top rated big in the second, or move up and get Hibbert. Otherwise Bring POB into camp. We can handle a role playing center if he is able to body someone up a lil bit.
