WOW. Gigantic win for the Celts.

I thought that with KG being traded, I'd be objective about his success as a Celtic. As he creeps closer and closer to his first championship, I legitimately find myself getting excited.

How about you guys?

The sting of losing KG as a T-Wolf pales in comparison to the huge smile pasted on my face seeing him succeed at this level.

Go Celts! (until next season when the T-Wolves start again )

There's a part of me that really appreciates everything he did and will be happy for him.

But at the same time there's a part of me that looks more objectively that he was never clutch for us; could yell at Wally and Rasho, but never his homeboys who were often much more deserving; got to involved with lobbying management to sign dreck like Peeler, THud, James, etc; and other things that bother me now, but you gloss over when he's playing for your team.

That 2nd part of me found me cheering for Atlanta, Cleveland, Detroit, and even the Lakers (ugh, puke, feel dirty) at times. I really don't know what it is as I know if there was no KG on Boston I'd probably be cheering hard for them since I really like Pierce. Maybe it's the hate the Goliath mentality. It's just been weird for me.

There's a part of me that really appreciates everything he did and will be happy for him.

But at the same time there's a part of me that looks more objectively that he was never clutch for us; could yell at Wally and Rasho, but never his homeboys who were often much more deserving; got to involved with lobbying management to sign dreck like Peeler, THud, James, etc; and other things that bother me now, but you gloss over when he's playing for your team.

That 2nd part of me found me cheering for Atlanta, Cleveland, Detroit, and even the Lakers (ugh, puke, feel dirty) at times. I really don't know what it is as I know if there was no KG on Boston I'd probably be cheering hard for them since I really like Pierce. Maybe it's the hate the Goliath mentality. It's just been weird for me.

Wow. KG gave 100% all the time, he stayed loyal when the national media was trying to push him out the door, and he never got into trouble off the court. It's frustrating when I hear fans focus on the negative.
To say KG was never clutch is misleading, he wasn't clutch as often as you'd like or expect him to be but he definitely had his moments.
As far as pushing management to sign dreck, I think KG was just pushing the Wolves to sign talent. Hudson was just 2 years removed a pretty good season and the choices were to sign him or lose him for nothing(we couldn't have used his money on anyone else.) It was the same thing with Peeler. James was considered the best available FA for the MLE. KG was pushing for the Wolves to spend money and obtain talent but he wasn't looking at the big picture. Of course that's not his job, that's the GM's job. I think it's ridiculous to blame KG for management's poor FA decisions.

Yeah, as I see him succeed as a Celt, it makes me reflect about why he couldn't succeed at a T-Wolf. To me, those reasons are:

* The inability of the front office to make the correct draft choices and other moves to improve the team.

* KG's ridiculous contract.

* Bad Luck

That said, KG was the best player to ever don a Wolves uniform, and I'm looking forward to the day when they retire his number in our rafters. Until then, I'm enjoying his success while I can finally be optimistic about the Wolves' future.

He's right on the doorstep, I'm proud of him. The only thing for me is that I was hoping that maybe he could really put him stamp on this series. I thought he was gonna abuse Pau Gasol and he really hasn't done that. I wanted him to put on his full showcase and win that ring. Right now, it almost feels a little like he's just flowing along for the ride. Oh well, still they wouldn't be there without him, and I'm really happy for Ticket.

That's the on;y thing. I wish he would just snap and Beast all over these fools. He's finally in the finals and he STILL wont get in the paint! That pisses me off. The paint is your friend! It also pissed me off last season when Al started taking so many jumpers. It is important he develops that part of his game but man, I want my bigs in the paint!

I had a good feeling about the C's when they made the 3rd quarter run, you could see they were just taking their time and knew that they were playing the right way. They weren't getting anybody on the Lakers get a head of steam - when they started taking the Lakers' movement away, they didn't know how to score anymore. They couldn't slash to the cup for fouls and they couldn't drive and kick for open perimeter shots, it was really solid defense. Lakers got an alley oop to Gasol off a broken play, and a couple of tough Kobe J's, but the Celtics didn't panic and knew those were anomalies and to keep on with what they were doing.

On the offensive end, the Celtics played really patient - they let Ray handle the ball a lot; a good decision because the inner Sam Cassell within Eddie House was coming out a little bit at times.

And the biggest thing was taking out PJ Brown and putting in Posey, Brown was killing the C's with his offensive inability, and inconsistent defense. Odom is a perfect matchup for Posey.

I'd start that lineup in game 5, Odom can't take Posey off the dribble. And if he helps on the other end, Posey can light up from 3.

Very good points. When I reflect I do feel very fortunate to have watched him play and for everything he's done for MN. I think it's just watching someone you had a lot invested in successful elsewhere. I'm a huge Cub fan and while I liked Maddux, those years in Atlanta were tough.

I was hoping that he would have a signature game, which I could see being very likely in Game 5 with him being so close.

Yeah. Cuz that was the intent of my post. I wish him the best but part of me has problems seeing his success somewhere else, which is what I was trying to say. I'm sure all the people who became Viking fans when Randy Moss was blowing up were all cheering for the Patriots in the Super Bowl this year.

I guess if this were to happen we minny fans would be the last to be opposed to that. I'm not sure but I think just the day KG was traded at least 70% on this board had this dream of KG returning after his contract runs out. by the time we should be at least a perennial playoff participant and KG will only make us better.

oh yeah, I forgot to add: it's actually wishful thinking. KG said post-trade how great the whole Celtics franchise/organisation is and how bad the wolves were. I'm not sure if he said it directly but it really sounded so.
