Re: MIN / LAL

I saw another poster produce a trade idea that combines some of the things in this thread:

MIN GIVES: Mike Miller + Brian Cardinal
MIN GETS: Rasho (exp) + Marquis Daniels (exp)

This cuts $16.63 mil from next year's roster, and if you consider Cardinal worthless (which I do, with all the better PF options in front of him), its hard for me to justify spending $16.63 mil on Mike Miller, no matter how much I like him. This would be addedto the $10 mil from Hudson + Howard, and the $10 mil more from Collins + Booth + maybe McCants We'd have only $40 mil on the roster, and be able to sign a max deal free agent next summer, before all the competition for free agents begins. Kidd, Iverson, Bibby, Rasheed, Nash (to), Artest, Odom, Kobe (po), Marion, Andre Miller, Boozer for vets, and Bynum, Granger, McCants, Marvin Williams, Martell Webster for youth. We could also tre-trade these expirings before the deadline to a team that's not doing so well (Bogut?), or simply hold onto them until 2010 like nothing had happened.

Also, Rasho is a defense-oriented, 7-foot center, and according to Raptor fans (and the ever-unreliable defensive stats people generate), he's gotten a lot better on defense. He, Al and Kevin Love seem like a decent big rotation.

LAL GIVES: Odom
LAL GETS: Mike Miller + Brian Cardinal

This seems like they are overpaying a bit, but its far from inconceivable. I think they want to get rid of Odom with Gasol and Bynum, and Mike Miller is such a good fit, that it might give them two better shots at winning rings.

IND GIVES: Rasho + Daniels
IND GETS: Odom

This seems like they underpay some, getting a better expiring for their two expirings. Maybe they send something to LAL. If LAL is happy with the deal, maybe we can get them to toss a prospect our way (Diener?).
