IND-WAS-MIN

Post#1 » by ritt0093 » Wed Nov 12, 2008 5:36 pm

I could sit and play with the trade checker all day...

MIN Gives:
SG Rashad McCants
C Jason Collins (expiring)

MIN Gets:
C JaVale McGee
C Etan Thomas (1 more year, which lines up with Cardinal's expiring)
SG Stephen Graham (expiring)

Why for MIN
MIN gets a young true center, and a 1 year rental in Thomas. He expires the same year as Cardinal so it wouldn't impact 2010. Cost is McCants, but that would open more time for Brewer/Miller/Gomes at the 2/3.

IND Gives:
PG Jamaal Tinsley
SG Stephen Graham

IND Gets:
C Jason Collins (expiring)
SG Rashad McCants

Why for IND
They trade two players who don't do anything for them right now. They get a nice expiring in Collins and hope that McCants' potential can be realized with a change of scenery.

WAS Gives:
C Etan Thomas
C Javal McGee

WAS Gets:
PG Jamaal Tinsley

Why for WAS
They get the PG they desperatly need until Arenas comes back from injury. It costs them McGee, but they do get to move Thomas (who has had documented disputes with Haywood in the past)

In my opinion, the deal is too expensive for the wolves.

OUT $8.82 mil

IN: Etan 6,864,200 7,354,500
McGee 1,392,240 1,496,640 1,601,040 2,462,400
Graham 826,269

We shouldn't have to eat almost $9 mil next year for a $3-$5 mil McGee. Not sure why we're eating Graham too, plus we'd need to spend another mil to buy out Booth.

Collins expiring is a positive trade asset, as is McCants. Etan and Graham are not, and McGee's trade value isn't enough to cover it. If we're doing a three-for two trade here, it should be Cardinal and not McCants, and if eating Graham isn't enough value gap, we should add a late pick, which IND should like.

Tinsley's trade value isn't close to what you're asking out of WAS. IND would snap up an Etan for Tinsley deal without McGee, simply to get out of Tinsley's third year, and try to make amends to IND fans, who hate Tinsley and are frustrated he's still on the team.
