76ers/Wolves + Free agency plans...

Post#1 » by john2jer » Wed Dec 17, 2008 4:41 pm

So the post about us signing 2 free agents, and a trade proposed by a Philly fan got me thinking...

76ers out - Andre Miller, Jason Smith, Donyell Marshall, and Philly's 2009 1st.
Wolves out - Mike Miller, Rashad McCants, Craig Smith, Boston and Utah's 1st round picks.

Wolves this year:

C - Jefferson/Collins
PF - Love/Marshall
SF - Gomes/Cardinal
SG - Foye/Carney
PG - Miller/Telfair/Ollie

I'll admit, we're ugly this year, but maybe Miller helps get us into the offense faster like McHal wants.

76ers get younger, better shooting, and a good force downlow who's protected by Brand and Dalembert on defense.

Wolves let Miller expire.

Draft:
Wolves pick - Thabeet
76ers pick - DeRozan
Heat pick - Budinger (I had to, plus he's Mike Miller junior) - Collison, Lawson, or Mills might be a better pick.

We're left with 15-18mil to spend after the trade and draft picks being signed. We sign Marvin Williams to 12mil per year. His age fits with the rest of our team.

Next year Wolves:

C - Thabeet/Smith
PF - Jefferson/Love
SF - Williams/Gomes/(Budinger)
SG - DeRozan/Brewer
PG - Foye/Telfair/(Collison/Mills/Lawson)

Then in the 2010 offseason we're still sitting on roughly 13mil to bring in another free agent. We have the dynamic wing players who can get to the cup. The defensive presence in the middle. The low post offensive force. The versatile forward who can play inside or outside. Just need a coach and a front office to not screw it up.

I'd do it just for the comedy of watching Al, Kevin and Craig looking up helplessly as Andre Miller's alley oop passes fly overhead

Craig would be gone in the deal, and it would be 2 months of hillarity, but I'm sure Carney and.... CARNEY! would love it.

I like the idea and I think Andre Miller would upgrade our team, even if it's only for a year. Not sure how interested they'd be in Mike Miller or who would play PG for them. Or if they'd trade a potentially good pick to get the deal done.

Foye would be at the 2 for the rest of this year, not for his career.

Thats still another year lost at PG. and for a young player, being moved around like that cant be good for him long term

Especially with the addition of Miller, Sixers won't finish in the lotto. That team will eventually get it.
