Cookie Out

http://blogs2.startribune.com/blogs/wol ... -of-weeks/
Jerry Zgoda wrote: Craig Smith’s bruised ribs actually have a “small crack,” the pain from which likely will keep him out of the lineup for a couple of weeks.

That was Kevin McHale’s estimation after practice Friday. Knowing how McHale is with injuries — and how Kevin Ollie’s evaluation after three weeks will become a six-week layoff over longer – it could be longer than that, but McHale said the timeframe will depend on how quickly Smith heals and how much pain he can tolerate.

“He’s a tough kid,” McHale said.

Smith was injured in a collision late in the first quarter of Tuesday’s victory at Indiana.

Kevin Love will continue to start in Smith’s place, a development you could consider a natural progression for his rookie season.

Agreed, you'd think it was a contact sport, or something. ;-)

On the plus side, it gives Love more minutes to develop, and a better shot at averaging a double-double his rookie year.

Oh man. Get well soon Craigers.

Time to sign Courney Sims!

Or at least bring back Richard. Get it done!

oh yes. I never intended to make it look like we are the ones with the most bad luck. I meant it rather in a general way with Cookie reminding me of it.

I can feel Craig's pain, I collided with some guy at the gym the other day and my upper rib still hurts. I think I see Craig in a more positive light here than others do. While I do agree Love should be starting, I still think Craig should get around 20mpg. He can create his own offense at times and he and Al are the only two guys good at scoring down low right now.

Hope he gets well soon. We really need to sign another big body.... our backup PF can't be Cardinal/Madsen.

I'm with Franchise. Craig Smith is a great role player. Put him on a team where people have 3 or 4 other options to worry about and he can do some damage.

It's been awhile since I last posted...actually around draft time and I was the one hoping the Wolves would trade down to get DJ. We know that didn't happen!

With that being said, a couple things about Smith...1) it often gets overlooked that McHale actually made a pretty good 2nd round pick with him! 2) He is a nice player that is a good fit w/Al. 3) He is probably more valuable with us than any trade we can make with him so keep the marginal contract and move on...
