Dal/Min Draft Day Trade

Post#1 » by jcldallas24 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 4:37 pm

Would you guys consider trding us your early 1st round pick + filler for Josh Howard and Brandon Bass?

Why for Dallas?
They get younger and can draft their pg of the future and probably their next franchise player.

Why for Minny?
They'll get a really good SF probably top 5. Also a really good young forward who could average 20 and 10 with starter minutes.

I wouldn't do it. We're a young team, and the pick will fit with what we are doing, and at a very low cost. We have no need for Bass. Our "filler" would all be valuable (especially this year) expirings.

I love Bass, but not for the Wolves. The one position the Wolves are set at is PF (Jefferson, Love, Gomes, Smith... even Cardinal can play there.) Howard would be a huge upgrade at SF - I personally think he's worth taking a chance on. But again, Bass is so redundant for the Wolves... maybe a third team would have to be involved?

I'm not sold that there ARE any franchise players in this draft, so I'd consider this, but the Woofies don't need another 6'8" power guy.

Isn't Bass an unrestricted free agent anyway.

If there was a 3rd team that added something that we weren't looking for in the draft, then IMO it could be possible

I'm 99% sure that team's can't trade players that aren't under contract for the next year in draft day deals.

Edit:

As for the original post, HECK NO!

Another 6'9" PF, no matter how good he is, and a 30 year old pot head SF aren't worth a top 5 pick + filler (whatever that is).

Yea, if it is Josh Smith I strongly consider it, but not Josh Howard.
