Deeney is on his own on this one and I sort of wish Watters was here to yell at him about it. Well... maybe I won't go that far.

Griffin is in no way undersized for a PF. Not sure where you dreamed that one up. People have been comparing him to Boozer, but I wonder if Stoudemire might be a better comparison. Only if Stoudemire tried hard all the time. Griffin is a far superior prospect as compared to Beasley in that he (1) has a natural position, (2) gives a damn about playing defense, and (3) will bring more to the table than just scoring.

Statistically, Beasley scored quite a bit more, had the three as part of his game, blocked more shots, averages less turnovers - and they're basically the same height. In college, Beasley looked like he could be a Melo-type first option. Griffin isn't going to be a first option. And Rose went ahead of Beasley. Some people will tout Griffin as a better prospect - everyone wants to sell "this year" - but it's not true at all.

I actually think that the Bulls would have seriously considered 2009 Griffin at #1 over 2008 Rose, if 2009 Griffin had been available last year. They really needed a post scorer, something that Griffin will legitimately be in the NBA, even if he's only 6'8" in shoes as I suspect, but Beasley pretty clearly wasn't going to. That just wasn't Beasley's game.

Rose is a fantastic prospect, but the Bulls did have an established PG already, so if Griffin was an equal talent in their eyes, his MUCH better fit may have won out.

The Heat would have snapped up Rose without a second thought, leaving Beasley to the Wolves as the clear-cut #3 pick over Mayo. Adding 2009 Rubio to the 2008 draft mix starts to make that pick interesting, though, because I like Ricky more than I liked Mayo last year, so he might actually have been a consideration over Beasley, as well.

Since we're on this tangent anyway, assuming that Griffin-Rose went 1-2 in some order, who would Wolves fans have taken at #3, Beasley, or 2009 Rubio? I think I'd go Rubio, honestly...

Indeed. Maybe I'm way off base, but I just don't see anything super special with Blake. He's clearly #1 this year if Rubio stays in Spain, but that's not saying much. I'm going to stop downplaying him, but I do think the question of who the Wolves could trade him for has merit when Al Jefferson and Kevin Love are already on the team.

Deeney - I'm here for you...

As a T-Wolves fan living in Big 12 country, I have seen Griffin many, many times...he's a great college player and one that will more than likely be a good NBA player. He has passion, can dominate in the lane (in college) and offensively does most of the little things that will translate in the Association. His challenges will be his ability to defend players that are his size...he has not had to do so yet and his lack of any type of perimeter game for his size will be limiting...he has shown no ability to play outside of 5 feet.

With that being said, his game is very different than Beasley's...and in Big 12 country there was more hype about Beasley last year than Griffin this year...but Griffin's team is better so he is also getting that credit.

Back to the core of this entire string...it would be great for the T-Wolves to get the chance to keep Griffin or trade him...we can only wish!
