Sever u're ridiculous

U want:

Griffin + Expirings for Deng, Hinrich, #16. Pick?

So you want us to give you the best prospect in this years draft and expirings that you can attract a big name free agent in 2010 for the 16. pick in a weak draft, Deng and Hinrich who are playing as good as Brian Cardinal this season?
Offer us Rose and we could talk about a Griffin deal but this discussion is really pointless because we're never going to get the pick #1 because we simply lack luck in the draft.

As a Chicago fan I would rather start thinking about why the Bulls are notorious unsuccessful after the Jordan era although having all the luck in the world concerning draft picks than mourning here about not getting an outstanding trade offer for average-at-best players who have terrible contracts.

I would go that far to say that EVERY other team would have built a contender with so many early draft picks. Chicago built a 1st round playoff exit team. That's what Minnesota did without having draft picks ;)
I guess you should look up the draft picks of your team from 1999 on and come back when you have come to the conclusion your team did a good job over the last 10 years. The Wolves FO is not the best in the nba but the Bulls is WAY worse which is also shown by their ridiculous image of a trade offer for Hinrich.

Am a longtime fan of both teams, and I hear this sort of thing often from other Bulls fans. It is human nature to over-value what one already has - generally twice as much, actually. This is why we probably held onto KG a little too long, and it probably explains how Bulls fans can be blind to Deng's lack of development since he entered the league. Add his appalling contract and the fact that he had something to do with Skiles being run out of town, and he becomes exceptionally hard to trade under most circumstances. Wolves are one of the teams that could probably use him anyway, but not at the price he is paid. Chicago media tend to be even bigger homers than ours so these faults are often overlooked.

Reinsdorf's not a bad owner, but no matter how profitable the Bulls are (and I bet they are), Glen Taylor's pockets are far deeper, and he has shown a willingness to spend. This gets lost on some from the Chicagoland area because they can't seem to differentiate between Twin Cites and much smaller communities like New Orleans, SLC or Memphis.

It is also true that the Bulls have historically been pretty bad at drafting, especially the last few years when they have had multiple high picks. Luckily, they had a good draft run with Jordan, Pippen & Grant, to mollify those of us who remember 1st round picks used on Quentin Daley, Dennis Hopson and Brad Sellers. Rose is a keeper, so they finally got another good one.

I have never understood the "Minnesota can't attract free agents" notion. True, it's hard to know based on the Wolves since they've not really had any cap space to work with. But the Vikings & Twins seem to have no problem getting them if they offer enough cash. Utah has signed several free agents, so why not us? Sure, we won't get pansies who need to live in SoCal, AZ or Florida, but neither will the Bulls, Celtics or anyone else located where it snows. Unless, of course, they pay more :)

Didn't Chicago trade Olden Polynice to the Sonics for Scottie Pippen?
